Hi

Not sure if there is one particular bike I would choose as ideal. If I had to choose one bike now for all round use then I would probably go with a Fazer 1000.

That is not the same as a bike I would go out and buy now, and having more than one bike I would prefer to spend money on toys.

All the best

Keith

Not sure what my ideal bike would be, but at the moment I'm thinking I like the Kawasaki ZX-12R best. MV also makes some really appealing machines and I think this would make one hell of a toy:

https://www.daidegas.it/Video/NEW%20VIDEO/1/MTT%20Turbine%20Real.wmv

I think I'll just stick w/ my Gixxer 6 for the time being...

Don't really know, really liked the TL and also really liked using the R6 so would happily get one of them and might well do when I'm back on the roads. Would much prefer rather than spending lots on one bike to get several different bikes for using for different things. Smile

Hmm that's a tough question really, it depends whats meant by "ideal" - for commuting? for fun? for everything..?

Not sure really but i'll always have to have a sports bike and a supermoto as that covers all the riding I like to do.. i think sports bike wise the R6 is good for me, altho I quite fancy a 954 blade or something - was thinking of changing but now the WR is insured thats all I really think about!

Supermoto wise, well I'd kill for a VOR530SME - fooking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Bit like yams, I ride on and offroad, so my ideal bike would be to have two bikes. Laughing

But if I had to choose one - Ducati Multistrada with a spare set of re-geared offroad wheels? Idea

Think that would be the best of all worlds, if you consider a typical supermoto not really up to motorway/touring work.

If speed limits and certain 'stupiditys' weren't an issue, then I'd say a zx10, maybe with a few more horsies for that extra bit of fun Smile.

As it is, my rs250 has got plenty of power for the legal limits. A nicer front end would sort it, but some stiffer fork oil should do.

Lots of other 'categories'; ie a sorted supermoto, hopefully my zx9 will do me as a stunt bike if I can afford insurance now and my r6 is about right for me for a track bike.

MV Augusta, MV Augusta, MV Augusta.

I have been in love with the F4 for ages but i really like the Brutale now. I got plenty of punch and sounds like an absolute weapon! hort wheel base makes it great for stunts too Mr. Green

I have had this idea for making a bike that runs on used chip fat, has no electrics, no chain, no gearbox and no brakes but accelrerates like shit off a stick.

Like this:

Start with a frame, probably a biggish Trailie Tourer thing like a TDM or something. The engine would be a reasonably powerful but compact diesel motor, something like a Kubota triple, this engine would be running on a governor. The engine is connected to a hydraulic power-pack. Both wheels contain hub-centre, hydraulic piston motors similar to those fitted to the front wheel of those 2WD yamahas (but maybe bigger if such a thing is available) .

Drive is achieved via high pressure hydraulic lines running to both wheel hubs (hidden inside the swingarm/forks?) and speed is controlled by a valve opened by the throttle control. For rapid deceleration, the brake levers operate a restrictor valve in the hydraulic outflow

That's it, should be very low maintainance, extremely cheap to run and have no shortage of torque. My only concern is top-speed, I think on paper that those hub motors generate up to 30bhp each. I suppose you could put two in each hub?

My ideal conventional bike would be a tuned off its nads RD350LC2 YPVS and a supply of spare engines, and a petrol tanker.

Fazer 1000, or even a Fazer 600 for me. Those bikes are no less than foxy. I'd quite easily settle for a racing spec Yamaha YZ250 as well. Hey, maybe I'd even have both Razz

A GSXR750K4 for me.

Or something for everyday use would be a maxxed up CB500, with a full Micron Exhaust System, K&N Filter, Dynojetted producing 70BHP. Razz

My ultimate bike would be the new 750cc triple with a Daytona 600 frame and running gear that Triumph say doesn't exist! Shhh!

Or, there is a Speed 4 with a 1200cc Daytona engine in it... maybe a Daytona 6/12? Twisted Evil

At present I like my sv, thats why I bought her. If I find another bike I like better I'll go out and buy that instead. Luckily I dont have to dream about getting my perfect bike...I have no debts nor bills nor mortgage, I have no height or weight restrictions...so I can get what I want when I want! Sweet. Very Happy

If they made bikes the size of a 400 with more power and less weight then that'd be my ideal bike. I really like the small size of my bike but it lacks power and is a little on the heavy side for a small bike. I've kind of gotten used to the extreme racing position of the Gixxer 4. So that would also be an essential part.

Oh and it'd have to be a lot more modern looking than my old bike.

Ok, it's got about 3kg more, but the zx10 has a shorter wheel base and a fair bit more power. Get a couple of carbon bits made up (swingarm? Razz) and stick some lighter fairings on and you'll have a fair bit less weight as well Smile.
Sorted Thumbs Up, Razz.

My Buell S1 Lightning IS the best bike I've ever owned.
It's not the fastest.
It's not the best handling.
It's not the most reliable.

But it gives me the biggest jaw-aching face-splitting idiot-looking grin EVERY time I ride it. Very Happy

Keep your speed, torque is where it's at.

The trouble with owning your ultimate bike is that choosing another one bike is SSSOOO difficult. Wink

A Ducati Desmosedici, detuned (a bit) for (a bit of) reliability, fitted with lights and brakes that work when not up to silly race temperature.
