Not replacing the oil after winter?

I was going to go ahead and change the oil on my Zed it's been sat since September.

However I was having a tyre change on my other bike and asked what I should do as I am due the 15K service in about 900 miles.

He said he wouldn't bother changing the oil and just get it done at the service.

Not sure what to do to be honest.

I need to get it running and taxd, motd etc.

Can't believe it was winter last week and here I am walking around Leeds in a t-shirt. One week later! The joy of the UK weather! 17C today!

Is there any jizz in the sight glass?

Condensation inside the engine case while it's been sat will mix with the oil and usually show up on the sight glass as a thick white man juce type fluid, see it run, it for a bit, if there is still a lot of jizz after a few days of riding then an oil change wouldn't be a bad idea.

If its nice and clear then you may be fine till the next service. Thumbs Up

I don't change mine after winter as it got to be too costly. Just a few thousand mile's in the summer to change it next spring. And then it came out as good as it went in. I store mine in a garage with cloth cover's over them. Never had water in the oil in all the time I've been do this. Leave it until service time. Just don't rag the Azz off of it first time out.

I would get the 15k service done now. They the bike is fresh for the rest of summer.

Leaving it until the summer is probably a bit late. Oil contains residues of combustion with are acidic, and if the age of the oil worries you then having acidic oil etching away at the engine and bearings over winter would probably worry you more.
