I can't drive for another 4 weeks but I saw a Citroen Xsara Piccasso today which looks right up my street. 1.8 petrol, '03, 1 owner, full history, 45k miles, 12 months MOT, tax is up this month, interior appears mint, all for 2k. On paper it looks a dream, I hope it's as good up close.

Shocked 5500(ish) miles a year - it's either a school run wagon (alloys fucked up all-round) or a pensioner's weekly jet wash practice (alloys looking like a set of sparkly sequins at each corner of the car).

Good luck Pal Thumbs Up

The door storage has enough space for a 1.5 litre bottle of vodka and a can of Super. Each side.

The wife's got one, 1.6 petrol. It's been surprisingly trouble free - up to 50k now, they've been making them for long enough to get the hang of it - and it's immensely practical. The idiosyncrasies - digital dash, console mounted gearshift - are actually really smart ideas once you get used to them. Insurance is dead cheap - it's a low group, without a "Yeah, but driven by chavboys, innit" weighting.

The 1.6 doesn't rev, but will return 40mpg if driven in a relaxed way - which suits the engine fine. Apparently the 1.8 is a better, more modern unit. The only real downsides are that it's got the turning circle of an ocean liner, and a group "I" CO2 rating, so you'll get mugged for £210 a year in VED.

I'd have another, which I wouldn't have thought when I first got it.

Lovely car, deposit is down and collecting it later on this afternoon. Mileage varies from 4000 - 6000 miles per year according to the MOT's. Brilliant. I've got an interest in second hand cars and this one seems as good as it's ever going to get for that money. It's not bargain of the century but it's in good shape, looking forward to it.
