Well first off, dont start messing around with stuff like this when you have no idea, all you do is burn money to get about 7mph more.
Second, Dump the Open air filter. There worthless. Fit the standard airbox back.
Third, what size carb are you running? What make of 70CC kit? Have you fitted an uprated Crank? What exhaust? What jet are you using? Have you changed the rollers and clutch springs? Give us more info!
Oh and I assume you have converted to Pre-Mix now youve fitted a 70 as the Oil pump wont provide enough oil for the 70 Kit, so what ratio are you using? ____________________ Former: Derbi GP1 50, Sachs XTC 125, Suzuki GSXR 400 GK73A, Kawasaki ZX7R, Suzuki DR250, Yamaha RD350

How can the exhaust not have a make? I assume from this that it is an Endy 'Power Pipe', They are terrible exhausts. On a two stroke the exhaust is very important (Size and shape of expansion chamber etc.) so you need to get a decent exhaust, I recommend a Yasuni Exhaust, there expensive but worth the money. You also need to make sure your exhaust is compatible with a 70cc kit and not make for a 50.
As I said before, put your standard airbox back on.
If the carb is a 12mm or something then its far too small to run the 70 kit, you need to buy something bigger. I suggest a mid range dellorto or a malossi carb.
Try increasing the jet size too, it might be fuel starvation, 85 sounds a bit small for a 70 kit.
With regards to the 70 kit, are you sure you fitted it right? Got the piston in the right way? Got the piston rings on properly? ____________________ Former: Derbi GP1 50, Sachs XTC 125, Suzuki GSXR 400 GK73A, Kawasaki ZX7R, Suzuki DR250, Yamaha RD350

There are so many things this could be...but start with the carb, to do that, check the colour of the plug. Running on premix leans it out big time. But dont guess at the sizes of the jets, my tgb shed took a 70 main jet with a 70cc "bore" kit, and an endy powerpipe on premix. Each engine is different. That was a small carb though, with standard airbox. The right piston is important, my first attempt meant I had a low compression piston in it, would only do 40mph flat out, till the circlip jumped out and destroyed the cylinder and piston. For a ped, I'd just stop with what you have done, and sort out the carb (I presume this is the issue)
On an aside I dont agree the Endy exhausts are rubbish, they are perfect for cost effective replacement, dont think mine can be Mot'd with it though. Meh, its sat in the garage with no carb since July. Yasuni are proper performance all out design, and not anything I would consider for a ped, unless it was going to be raced seriously. ____________________ Kawasaki AR125 B8 - Getting ready for a summer time soon! |
