Where would you buy a top line gaming rig?

If all goes to plan I would quite like to upgrade PC to coincide with the release of TES V Skyrim.

Was wondering who does the best pre built gaming rigs these days?

Been interested in self build up to now, but don't think I can be arsed this time. Just want a tower to come ready in a box, plug in and away we go.

Quality components and well put together, including sensible and tidy cabling etc is important. As well as performance.

Not looking for silly money but maybe to 1k or so. Any recommendations. Obviously specs will change drastically by the time November comes round, so just general companies to check out their sites, rather than specific models for now.

Overclockers is always a good site to look at. I'd build my own though.

1. Build my own, save a fortune, everything how I want, top spec.

2. Get someone who knows how to build on to build one for you.

3. Pay a shop or company for a ready built one.

In that order of preference.

If you can't be bothered building your own, if it don't work send it back you don't get all crap issues with warranty.

I have used them for the PC i currently use and recently got a Dell 24" wide gamut monitor from them, no complaints on service.

Interesting food for thought thanks

I did build my own last time and considering i'm not the most savvy with computers it seemed surprisingly simple to do.

My reluctance was that I thought it was no longer cheaper to build your own? Has that changed again now?

Depends on the type of system. If it's an office PC it's cheaper to buy a pre-built one as they make them by the shit load. If it's a top end gaming rig, well they'll spec it out at one point in time and slap a price on it. Then at random intervals different components come down in price. So instead of changing their price on a week by week basis, they just leave it the same and it becomes cheaper to build your own.

Basically all you need to know is this:
Pick AMD or intel, i own both, not much in it bar the intels being a bit more expensive.
Big ass graphics card, don't bother with getting 2. Dual HDMI monitor output is good to go for. ATI are best at the minute.
Power supply determined by your graphics card & cpu
DDR3 ram cause you're not stupid, quicker the better obviously.
A suitable motherboard to put it all in.
Sound will be on board along with ethernet
Cheap Wifi card
Hard drives are cheap as fuck so get a huge one.
Then spend the rest of your budget on a case, monitor(s), maybe a nice keyboard and mouse.

My PC cost me about £350 and plays everything i've tried just fine. If i spent £200 on a graphics card for it it'd be just about as good as you could need for any current or upcoming game.
