why? partly because I could, partly because I was told its not possible, but mostly because its a higher voltage coil giving better spark and the leads are easily replaced when they decay, as well as having a waterproof connector to prevent wire corrosion.

The coil pack is off a mk2 mondeo 1.8zetec and the only real issues were to fit resistors inline on the pulse wires to prevent it melting the ignition black box, standard mondeo coils run at .3 ohm whereas the XJ600 wants 2.5 ohm so some resistors were soldered in to take in to 2.7ohms.

Anyway, a quick video of the first test, ive tidied the wiring up a bit and mounted the coil a bit better since then.

Mostly silly fuckers that refuse to use any parts that havent come from OEM, they seem to think parts are not compatible with other parts at all, when actually nigh on anything is compatible so long as you think about it logically and take your time.

But yeah, its going to be funny turning up at college on Monday and my lecturers seeing it, most of them said it couldn't be done, hows riding it in proof that they were wrong? Laughing

I have to admit, I'm struggling to see what it is that's so impossible about this: it's not like you've modified a cyclotron to replace your coil packs, or anything.

Looks like a decent mod, too: dependent on the price difference between a pair of coils and a coil pack, I'd be tempted to follow your lead, were I to build an I4 rat.

XJ coilpacks can be got for 15 quid a pair second hand ranging up to 110 quid a coil brand new if you can find anywhere stocking them.
Mondeo coilpack cost me a tenner and has leads that are replaceable in a matter of minutes, aswell as being a more waterproof construction than the standard ones.

p.s, probably cost less than a good rebuilt engine for a RD350, enjoy being raped on prices for an overhyped 'classic' Laughing

i an fucking guarantee you that would not pass a proper mot. he rear shock has been removed and a solid length of box section fitted in is place ... i bet them lighs don have the correct light pattern . sharp edges everywhere.... do i need to continue?

as for sick over Rd350's with engine swaps . shows our level of inteligence and the undersaning of 'Ringing' a bike . if you consider that Rd to be just an engine swap as it was more of a ID swap / frame restamp ...

also now you vear of the subject of the picture because you failed so fucking hard .......

If you check here: https://www.motuk.co.uk/mcmanual_610.htm and here https://www.motuk.co.uk/mcmanual_240.htm you will find the only subject covering the hardtail struts on the MOT test is a corrosion and looseness test, reasons for rejection are only items that affect the structural rigidity of the frame. It passed as its perfectly rigid and has no corrosion, remember if its not there it cant be tested...

https://www.motuk.co.uk/mcmanual_120.htm Will give you details on the MOT guidelines for headlights, I can confirm that the headlight is e marked for road use (not even a stipulation on a vehicle of this age) so that passed.

sharp edges? go back to your soft little ns125 if you dont like it. Laughing

Cheers

I couldn't give a flying fuck If you think your Ns125 is better or not, same goes for your opinion on hardtail struts, simple fact is I built this bike to do what I wanted, Hardtail included.

As for sharp edges, would you like to tell me were they are? Ive been riding it for coming up to 40,000 miles since last april and haven't found one sharp edge yet, neither did the MOT man, and neither has ANY police officer that has pulled me over.

Oh im sorry, i forgot, your more qualified than me, my mot man and the police all put together arent you? especially now youve seen a 2mp cameraphone picture. Rolling Eyes

Jog on kid, your boring me now.
