well, ive just sold my bike after a couple of weeks of people messing me about.

i dont know why people feel the need to ring up email and arrange to come have a look at the bike to cancel or not reply to emails you send back!.

anyway..... its gone now and my restriction is up so im back looking, i was looking for a k6 gsxr but ive just seen a rsv factory that i like. would you say for someone young with only 2 years and about 8k miles on sports bikes the rsv would be a bad idea?

and before you start im a gas fitter so i cant commute on my bike and be an all weather biker Smile

thanks

My second cousin just bought an RSV after about 8-10k on a 600 SRAD.

Hes swapping it for an R6. I can't tell you much more than that, I know hes not keen on the occasional electrical gremlins though.

if you see him could you ask why hes changing? doesnt matter if you dont.

ive seen a nice standard k6 gsxr 600 in corona paint but the rsv factorys that ive seen are a standard 2004 and a 2006 with exhaust and power commander. im looking to buy one next week hopefully.

thanks

Will do mate. The riding position seemed bang on to me.

It might have been too much bike for him to be fair but I don't think hes the sort to admit it. He wasn't a bad rider on the SRAD.

I'll get back to you!

If you're not confident enough thinking about it, doesn't that answer your question?

Thumbs Up

no. i was confident but people on here told me that its easy to lock the rear when your downshifting into corners on a v-twin. and seen as ive never had one i wouldnt know without asking.

if there was any decent ones round here id go have a go on one but they are all 30 odd miles away and id rather know abit before i go view one

Then try and give yourself more than a week's time to buy it...

Feeling inexperienced is just as bad if not worse than being under confident.

Man up and buy it.

You control how fast the bike goes.

It's actions entirely are derived from your own.

If you don't like it, sell it, what's the problem?

im wanting to buy one next week because im off work so i can travel to pick one up. if not then ill have to rely on other people.

and like i said i felt fine about having one until people told me these things about them. ive also been told that i'll be fine but if you cant ask a question before going and spending 4-5 grand on a bike then whats the point in a internet forum like this.

im not having a go, but some bikes are harder to ride than others, and if you dont ask you wont find out.

Being a born again biker. A well used phrase. The last bike I had was a 250 Super Dream. So that shows you how long ago I stopped riding. Got married had a family. Got a divorce. Got a new lady. Talked about bike's. She said get one. So I got a CBR1000f as my first bike. I was as much a learner as you could be. Sat in the garage for about a week before I had enough nerve to get it out. Once round the village. On a quite Sunday afternoon. Got back pushed it back in garage. A few day's later. Lady friend says take the bike out again. So I do. More back road's 20 mile's. Come back home. Feel a lot better. I even had one of them green "L" plate's attached to the back of the bike. Made me think I was more safe. Next time out was main road's, and instead of a few mile's or an hour out. I was out nearly all day. Rode over a hundred mile's that day. Have never looked back since. The bike is way more powerful than I need. but I wont out grow it. Have had it a good few year's now, and have plowed more money in it it than it's worth. Just remember that the right hand work's both way's, And the best rider is the one that lives the longest. Not the one who is the fastest.

Buy the biggest bike you can afford. ride it like a 250, then ride it like a 500 and then, you get the idea. Saves you buying one bike now, only to chop it in latter for another and then another.

cheers john, a couple of the lads i go out with have blades aswell as you. i had a go on one of them at the isle of man last year was crap getting back on my zx6r after that.

when i spoke to people before it was more the engine caracteristics of the v-twin over a il4 that they mentioned.

we'll see wont we? i suppose if i rode one it would make my mind up but i thought id ask before i lend a van and go 30-40 miles.

A twin over a il4. The question is as old as biking. If I had more space in my garage. I would have a good look at one of the sp, either a one or a two. As I like and trust Mr Honda.

i reckon it would be more money in your wallet than space in the garage thats needed.

i liked the sp1 but i was put off and when i looked i think you would get more bike with a newer rsv than with an sp.

like you say some people will come back with the predictable replys but i was looking for people that have owned both, especially seen as im going from a 10 year old 600 to whatever i end up with.

Some of what you say is true. I had four bike's in my garage at one time. Until Bridget told me that if one of them did not go by the end of the month. She would be using my ball's as ear ring's.

The SP are expensive for their year. But why? Because they hold there price. It's a marmite bike. You either love them or hate them. not much middle ground.

I had a SP1 for 4 years and a blade after that and now have a new blade, the blade is a lot easier to ride at any speed and more forgiving, the SP was fantastic but you had to ride it hard to get the best out of it, but when you did it was fantastic, yes the back wheel locks up on the SP if you change down to hard going into bends but it always felt safe, it also lifts the front wheel when you get on the throttle coming out of the bends but again always shook its head but felt safe. personally i would go for a blade if I was you as it's more forgiving, but the SP will be more fun.
