The programme itself is good. Like Cansa says it's Prof Cox who ruins it slightly. I get the impression that he feel like he's imparting some God-like knowledge onto us as if he's just discovered the workings of the universe himself. All spoken very slowly.

I do like the editing etc of the programme, some of the locations etc but I get the impression that the Prof is on one big ego trip.

If someone like Jim Al-Khalili was presenting then I'd like it more but I suppose it's more of a 'pop-science' programme than a heavyweight science programme.

Considering it competes with Dancing on Ice in its scheduled slot, I wasn't too offended when they chose a presenter that treats his viewers as if they are a little mentally handicapped.

I welcome it, I don't want to think too hard on a Sunday evening!

Yeah I've caught wee bits of this programme here and there and agree with the comments about the presenter, I just don't find him engaging. And why the fuck do they have to fly him all over the world just to explain how a star is born etc, no wonder the fucking TV licence keeps hiking up if that's how they spend the money!

Remember, we're talking prime time Sunday night viewing though - the powers that be simply won't accept that people could cope with something that didn't have lots of pretty pictures (and looking at the sort of telly 'people' like, they probably couldn't).

Apparently the BBC had complaints that the music was too loud and that he couldn't be heard. I propose they rectify this by replacing him.

Heard this Brian Cox(?) cunt on Radio 2 a few times on another cunts show (Chris Evans) and I must say he sounds like a right fud. Thinks he knows it all, talks to you like you know fuck all, and to top it all off he thinks he's the coolest cat around... the arrogance is disgusting.

Keep him on TV, then I might not hear about him so much.

I've not watched it as I don't watch TV but by the sound of it it's not aimed at anyone posting here who has GCSE knowledge of science. It's aimed at the dribbling celebrity dancing on ice idol watchers who might forget to breathe if there weren't regular reminders in the newspaper. The fact they've chosen a presenter who looks like James Blunt kind of reinforces that.

There's a certain urge to kick Cox in the ovaries, but I think he's actually all right. Keeps calling folk "nobbers" on Twitter, which is OK in my book.

I'm getting a bit narked with all the padding out and CGI though - if you're going to do a science show, you should show the information that we have, not what you wish we had. It's one thing to stimulate the imagination, but quite another to say "This is the spongebob nebula" and then show an animated Swirly Thing. There's a term for that, and its Science Fiction. You might as well show the Enterprise swooshing in front of it.

I'd rather the BBC spend cash on science programs than some overpaid tosser like Jonathan Ross, and to be fair, Cox does a decent job of explaining some of the stuff (2nd law of thermodynamics for example) using simple terms and rocks/sand etc. If this is what it takes to get a new generation interested in science rather than wanting to be yet another pathetic limelight chasing celebrity/footballer/wag... then so be it. I'd rather watch a science documentary over just about everything else on telly!

And in defence of Mr Cox, if you follow him on twitter he comes across as being quite down to earth and humerous, including posting links to the latest spoof's of his programs
