Can I just say, firstly, it's a repost. Secondly, it's not a 'new Guy Martin film', it's a film about the Isle of Man TT. They've used him in the trailer because of the canal boat thing (which I love by the way) but there's just as much focus on Connor Cummins and a couple of other riders, as well as on the families of the riders. It's a film about the Isle of Man TT and why people race it, not about Guy Martin. Thumbs Up

When is this film due out?

Looks good bar the necessity to have 3D added to it.

It's not had 3d added to it. It was filmed with the real 3d cameras so will be quite interesting to see if it's any better than the shit I've seen so far in "3d".

Come on, what's not to like about a 3d lap around the TT course.

Fair point. Just not a fan of 3D. Quite happy to watch a film simply because it's good. Seems to be a gimmick added to nearly every bloody thing coming out at the moment.

Bike reviewed it in this month's issue and gave it a fair slating:

Gary Inman, Bike wrote:

...It begins with high production values and clever editing, introducing the main protagonists, painting them as a mix of heroic everymen and loveable eccentrics.
But by the time the racing starts its little more than a Duke Video with soundbites and set-ups of Guy in his van.
The editing is repetitive and the filming inconsistent.
Long Christmas aftershave advert-style slo-mo shots of the racers getting their leathers on seem out of place.

I'm a big fan of the TT and knew the main stories of 2010.
I know many cinema-goers won't, but I noticed the references and glimpses of Kiwi racer Paul Dobbs early in the film.
They're there purely to introduce him, because he died after a crash in Thursday's Supersport race. The film interviews his widow and shows his kids. It's a very moving and powerful example of what real road racing means to the families involves and shouldn't be glossed over.
Guy's fireball crash and hospital interview, when he's still dazed, follow.
It's followed by previously unreleased footage of Conor Cummins' horrific crash at the Verandah. Hutchie's five in a week feat gets a passing reference and more time is spent on his crash in British Supersport that nearly resulted in his foot being amputated.
I was left feeling depressed and angry. Any joy TT3D possessed was scorched away by the death and destruction. Yes, it showed the TT as a beacon for freedom of choice, but the choice seemed only to kill or maim oneself. And that isn't what the TT is about. Not for me, anyway.

It's got to be better than I Superbiker though.

At the end of the day it's about road racing, so it's got to be worth a punt.

Disappointing, but all too predictable I'm afraid. Not sure any documentary has ever captured the essence of the Isle of Man TT, or road racing in general. Those who make films don't get the TT, those who get the TT don't make films.

It's more that there's no money in just showing things as they are these days, which is why the work of people like David Simon and Ed Burns (Generation Kill, The Wire) is so under-appreciated and documentaries all have to have suspenseful music and recaps every 15 minutes.

You can't find a film about anything worthwhile that isn't sensational, pretty obvious that they'd focus on the lowest common denominator of something extreme like the TT. Such is life..

The first review makes this film sound like everything it should be, but the other two seem to focus too much on the deaths at the TT and not enough on anything else.

I'm going to the 20th preview showing in Edinburgh and to the actual TT in June. For some reason I'm more excited about the movie, I really cant wait.

I'm not much of a fan of 3D either but I think when it's used right (and filmed in 3d as this is) it can be really powerful and work well.

+1 Although I'm not more excited about the film... it's the flipping Isle of Man TT
