Just over a year ago (literally a year and 2 days) I was pulled out on and crashed into. So a year later what do I manage to do? crash my bike.

Went and met my cousin in the morning and headed out to find some new roads. All was going well found some good bends, and good road surface. The road started to get a bit bumpy but not too bad so carried on with some pace, came to a right then left chicane. Tipped in on the right stood it up and started setting up for the left, took the corner a lot tighter than my cousin in front and hit a big bump where a pot hole had been overfilled Rolling Eyes. Next thing I know the bike is trying to drop, managed to stand it up but started heading for the grass front end washed out and the bike ended up in a ditch Pale

Got it out had a look around, wasn't too bad front ends smashed up but mechanically sound. Gear linkage was buggered though, snapped the bolt attaching it to the linkage. Managed to bodge it together with some tape but couldn't really change gear so got into second and got home pissing everyone off by keeping to 30 in 50s

Will upload pics tomorrow

Unlucky matey. The road condition around here is terrible at the minute. Had a few moments myself. Sounds like the damage was mainly cosmetic though which is a plus.

I nearly rammed straight into an artic yesterday that pulled out in front of me. Thank God there was no traffic in the oncoming lane and I was able to avoid.

All cosmetic apart from the gear linkage. It is going to be a naked vfr until I can find the fairings that I need

The sun shines and part of your brain switches into summer mode. But the roads are in a shocking state after three hard winters running and a total budget to fix them of about £40.

Seen a few potholes in east Sussex that appear to have been filled in by locals - they obviously mean well and it would probably be OK if you driving a Land Rover but they're lethal to bikes.

Same nearly happened to me the other day where I overcooked it coming up to a bend after an overtake and the back wheel locked when I downchanged. Managed really hard to try not to target fixate on the ditch I was heading for Laughing. Got round but hit the muddy verge in the process. Scarey stuff.

I've also noticed that the roads are slowly being gone over and 'repaired'. Who do they employ to 'repair' the roads for god sake? The quality of the repairs are AWFUL. They seem to be under the impression that by overfilling the holes the repairs are going to last longer or something? I don't know but whoever does it needs to be shot as it so dangerous.

Hope you get the bike sorted and just be careful as the roads really are terrible at the mo.

Ride safe Thumbs Up

Yeah I had turned into summer mode, which proved its self wrong as it then started to piss it down a couple of hours later.

once I managed to get the thing slightly upright mid corner I did target fixate to the ditch, but I think this sort of helped as the bike went down on the grass rather than the road which would have done a lot more damage.

Ironically as I was trying to sort the gear linkage, the high way maintenance people came around sweeping over the bump that had just ruined my bike. And on the side of the van it read "here to improve road grip" or something similar, wish they had of gone around have an hour earlier. Although all they done was sweep the road, f*cking useless w*nkers!

It's not explicit in the official KSIs but I understand anecdotally that there's a big peak in KSIs at this time of year, when the "season" starts.

Riders emerging after winter hibernation, shagged out roads, cagers not used to seeing bikes around yet, low sun glare: pretty much worst cases all round. Sad

Had a rear lock up or two today, was riding hard trying to keep up but on the corner I actually came off I wasn't going at it particularly.

Probably strip the front end down on thursday and "street fighter" it, and try and sort the linkage out

fuck off Chris Laughing where the hell did the bin come from?

strip the fairings off, see whats damaged/knackered/salvageable, then ebay for the bits, or put up an wanted ad here or 400gb might have to settle for mismatched/fibreglass panels until some nice ones come along. It's much better to refer to it as turning it into a naked than street fightering it Thumbs Up

Yeah I know I was saying naked but my mate kept saying streetfighter and kind of got in my head.

Should only be like it for a few weeks until I find the correct parts. Or I might get some of the fake ones in RC30 colours if I can, people over 400gb have said fairly good things about them.

Bad luck fella, hopefully it won't cost you an arm and a leg to repair the damage.

Glad you got away in one piece and the bike isn't well and truly f*cked.

Fuck off you nob, in what way am I a power ranger? And not riding to the conditions? sunny day, fairly good road just a shitty filled pot hole that sent me upright mid corner

Sportsbike + White leathers = Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger

Cranked over on corners + not being able to avoid patty-cake pothole = Not riding to conditions.

Sorry for your damaged bike, been there and done it and all that, but the main reason I don't ride a sportsbike anymore is that the roads are just too wank these days to corner them safely.

Forget about the expletive, in your shoes I'd have said exactly the same. Smile

Well black jacket with white inserts, black jeans and a pair of black and white boots. So not all white and not a one piece, more like half a power ranger Razz

And once I had taken the corner wasn't a lot I could have done about the pot hole, had I have known it was there then yes would have gone in slower and wider. So more like riding into an unkown hazard.

And still feeling cranky, woke up this morning and went to thorpe park with stiff shoulders and neck which are now 3 times worse
