A good mate of mine who bought my crashed Ninja, has it back on the road now.
It’s all black, shortened can, looks mean, sounds awesome.
He rides every day to work in the mornings. On route he goes through a fairly quiet town and obviously some of the local residents have taken offence to the bike.
As a rider, he rides very well, one of the best riders I’ve had the pleasure of blasting through the Cotswolds with, I know he doesn’t hang about either.
Yesterday he was coming into the small town he passes, and notices that a number of people actually either waved or flashed their lights at him. He bumbled along with traffic for a bit when I traffic car pulled out and started to follow. A minute later another car joined but as caught at some lights that he went passed. They used the blue’s to get through them and catch up.
As he exited the town to the open road a third car had come onto the scene and proceed to use siren and lights to pull him into a layby. The other two cars then came in at speed and boxed him in. Thankfully he hadn’t been doing anything that they could pin on him at that moment but they explained the situation to him. He’s been seen on numerous occasions blasting to and from work, probably hitting speeds up to 140+mph. It’s a very loud bike and basically they’d put together a task force to catch him.

They explained that in six months either of the following would happen. Nothing happens, points and penalty, court summons or they just take his licence.

I think he said they mentioned CCTV, or maybe that was what he said could do him. He pootled off to work with his tail between his legs. On route home he said there were cars outside of the town where he works and his home town, may have been nothing…but after yesterday, he wouldn’t put it past them.

I’ve never experienced that before, so wasn’t sure what to say. I assume they wanted him yesterday morning, but thankfully he wasn’t in a hurry.
Any heard of this sort of police action before?

With all these so called police spending cuts they managed to spare a few cars to have a chat with your mate without any real evidence or proof. Just because villagers have complained that he rides through the village in the mornings.

Pathetic.

One of the village's residents is probably a top cop or a local councillor. There is no way that Joe Public could get Plod that interested in collaring someone.

Does he ride through the town at 140mph too? Don't want to sound like a dick here and I ride too fast on NSL roads myself but frankly if he doesn't slow down for the built up areas then:-

a) he will eventually get busted
b) he will deserve it

If he's sped past any CCTV cameras then I presume he does do this in 30 and 40 limits as you don't get a lot of them on the open road.

Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick and he's just doing it out of town but if not then the kittens are genuinely at risk to be honest.

If the rider has ridden in accordance to traffic regulations(i.e. speed limits) than Mr plod and his dogs are talking BULLSHIT...

Also for a court summons they need evidence... i.e a video of the rider doing 70 in 30 zone and the likes...

Before anyone starts... complaint from joe public... s.59 police reform act, you need 1 person to make the statement and a 2nd person to corroborate it... Mr plod and his dog comes to see you at home, tell you what's what and leaves, do it again and you will have your bike seized for a week!

The problem is that if you have a loud can and ride through otherwise quiet area's in the morning then no doubt a few oxygen theives will take offence to it. Add a few MPH's and i'm sure the whole town would be after him.

I don't have a loud can for that very reason, I get up early in the morning for work and sometimes work late shifts finishing at 1am. It's all about consideration for fellow mankind Thumbs Up

If lots of people complained and the police did nothing they they'd be critised but if they stop the guy then they are critised again.........it's a bit of a non win situation.

I'd certainly be pissed off if I was woken by a overly loud exhaust every morning.

Nah, you’re probably right…there’s no chance he could do over a ton in that town but he probably knows it all so well now, he does gun it occasionally.
I’m not defending any of his riding, he rides like a bat out of a hell most of the time….just wondering what the deal is when the police catch up with him, doing nothing.

It’s all going to ride on CCTV I imagine. Because who ever mentioned he rides like a lunatic doesn’t count for fu*k all when he’s seen doing 30 in a 30.

Cotswolds

Sort of explains all, really..... couldn't be in an area under extended duristiction of Shakespear World PLc..... sorry Stratford Upon Avon District, Masonic Lodge, sorry COUNCIL, would it?
Look, you have to realise that the district has been 'bought' by the London Bankers under a preservation of the Gentry scheme.
You are only welcome, if you have more than five million in an offshore bank account, and will join the cricket club and make large donation to the church preservation fund, or paint nice pretty pictures to put in the gallery in Cambden.... the only 'peasants' that are acceptable have broad Glaucester accents, though a mile summerset would be more pleasing, if dressed in traditional linnen smocks, chewing streaw and leading a Hay wain full of thatch to keep their chocolate box cottage looking its best!

There won't be a 'taskforce' as such, with a big office full of pictures of your mate and his bike -"what's the colour of the boathouse at Hereford" etc.

It's almost certainly down to complaints from local residents - and despite the usual tin foil hat wibble, they don't have to be Freemasons or retired Chief Constables to have an effect on police priorities.

The last government championed the concept of safer neighbourhood teams and local consultation on police priorities. That basically means that a large chunk of your local plod get told what to do by whoever turns up to their monthly neighbourhood meetings - and those people tend to be the blue rinse WASP middle class brigade.

In general, I imagine that the type of middle class, middle-aged well-off white retired people who tend to attend these meetings are not the most sympathetic towards noisy pipes and 'dangerous riding'.

For every person on here who bemoans traffic checkpoints and speeding operations, there is someone else demanding the local plod put those operations in - and the difference between them and you is probably that they turn up to the meetings.

Surveys show again and again that local people often set the most ludicrous priorities for their local plod - like dog shit, litter, people being noisy at cafes and Killa's mate on a noisy bike.

Maybe your oppo needs to get all his mates in the area to attend an SNT meeting and try and get the local priorities to be Old People Talking Too Loud In The Street, or something similar.

Whereabouts in the cotswolds is it?

I'm not clued up on how far they would take it in cheltenham. However, when I was in loughborough, it was commonplace to see dozens of bikes out and about the east midlands doing silly speeds so it was a case of being unlucky.

I need to keep my eyes out because it's all too easy to go out on a blat on the roads near my house.

Also in traffic, they are DEFINITELY not accustomed to my aggressive london style filtering which, because in the cotswolds, you need to be posh to be privileged, anything that doesn't conform to the upper class olde english ethics of the landed gentry will be frowned upon.

Which village would it happen to be? Incidentally, I now ride with baffles in the weekend so that they won't notice me banging and blipping down the gearbox as I approach the 30 limits!

I might be wrong actually, it’s Evesham, I’m not sure that is the Cotswolds to be honest.
I’d hook up with you on the bike Titz but she’s in a bad way until I can fund an engine etc. Hope it’s all alright for you around here Thumbs Up

I never said it’s unfair and unjustified in this case Roger. When it needs to be said about the filth (which invariably is most of the time) I’ll fu*king say it. Wink Middle Finger
