Hi

Booked a Ferry, Portsmouth to Le Havre, arrive 8am on Friday 2nd September, have to be back in Le Havre at 5pm sat 10th September.

Was thinking of bombing the 600 miles down to the Alps, but I don't have a clue really.

Where would you go in the time frame?

Oli

I would use the auto routes to get south of Paris as quickly as possible then.. in no particular order. Burgundy, Auvergne, Millau (under or over) Provence Med coast.. and then over the Route des grande alpes. (south to north) A dip into switzerland.. then head for the Vosges or Black Forest. before heading back towards the channel. Nice circuitous route with all types of landscapes. places to see. things to do.

9 days.. add or subtract from that kinda itinery and you're bound to have a fabulous time. clockwise or anti.. the choices are endless. enjoy!!

September.. the tail end of summer is a great time to see the Alps.. the roads will still be clear. Tourists won't be clogging everywhere up so much. Its low season so a lot cheaper.

Sooner or later opinions fade and the name on the tank matters not. I think that happens somewhere between 3rd and 4th gear. Enjoy the ride... everything else takes care of itself.

much better than that posted route.. if only because you avoid Paris completely. Which as far as I'm concerned is a definite plus.

I'll be missing out Paris completely. I've been there once before but never want to go again (by car anyway even though my dad drove).

Sorry for hijacking the thread anyway! Smile

i'll say that route shown in the map is too much for just a 9 day holiday. You will be riding (and not just leisure riding) everyday just to get to a destination, with no rest days or time to get a flavour for the town, village area you're staying in. And you're certainly less likely to meet as many people (due to all the time riding).

Hi folks, I'm planning a trip to Millau viaduct and then to Monaco Smile
How many miles I should plan for a day? Are the roads very twisty?

Regards

350 to 400. Or in my case two tank load's. The one with a lot of corner's on are. The other's are straght. Very Happy

How long you going for?
