Recommend Me A New Tower

Following on from this thread, I'm getting sick of not being able to do stuff on my computer because it's a pile of shit.

I want to be able to edit 1080p videos in Sony Vegas, and play three year old games on it with the graphics on full.

£500 maximum, but the cheaper the better, obviously.

EDIT: Forget that, it doesn't support dual monitors. Would it be worthwhile upgrading the graphics card on it so that it does?

ITs a barebones bundle so not much left to put together should play most new games on full and edit videos. not the best conponents but will do the job.

personally i think that going on the intel route would be a better option.
any ideas how well sony vegas deals with multiple cores?
if multi core performance is good then maybe stick with amd 1055. if not maybe either step down to quad or maybe dual core and overclock the s**t out of it. 3 year old games put nearly no strain on the CPU. almost everything is on the GPU.

bang for buck amd really is where its at, although i rather go intel as well.

Low end I7 is probably best bang for buck.
I've for the 620 in my laptop so it's an I7, but a dual core. My 6 core desktop certainly seems to run everything faster though. You're right that it's all in the graphics card when it comes to games, but my ATI 5570 seems to run all older games perfectly. ran bioshock 2 in highest everything very easily. So anything that good or better within reason will likely do you. As soon as you start spending £200 on a graphics card you're not going to be getting bang for buck really.

i got mine with much higher spec for about £50 more. just need to shop around and look for deals

for £500 you should have no problem playing 3 year old games. i built my computer last december for £550 and it manages to easily run new games on max graphics.
it all depends if you need to purchase a monitor/ keyboard etc.

If the peripherals need to be replaced go for the budget stuff at first, then get a decent mouse and k/b in the future.
