I'm pulling my hair out over this, they worked last week when the bike was stripped down. I've obviously discombobulated something somewhere but i'm not sure where to start looking.

I'd guess you've simply got the connecters on wrong somewhere.

Your wires are incorrectly set up at the back.

It'll do this and the needle will stay at the other end of the scale indefinitely. I'm pretty positive your bike will have three leads, pos, neg & obviously earth.

If its an old bike, although they might not be any markings, you can simply trial and error it, I dont think you'll do it any damage.

Weirdly, its quite a good way of testing whether the temp guage works, especially if you've picked up a bit of a heap and you need to know what works and what doesn't. It's also a quick way of telling you whether your thermostat might have packed up if all of a sudden its reading no temperature at all.
