It is impossible to tell quality from pictures on the internet, personally I wouldn't expect them to be decent.

I got a textile set of Nankai, its meant to be a good quality brand. I cant fault the stuff holding together for 6 months being worn almost daily at work, and at least 3 months riding. The armour isn't much cop, but it all unzips so you can put in your own armour (well, on the textile set anyway). I have an old full loose armour MTB top I have from ages ago that I wear under my jacket.

Pretty decent stuff, seen a few Japanese racers wearing them, so they're ok.

If it's good enough for Mick Doohan....

Mind you, there are plenty of decent japanese brands that you can't get from main retailers - mostly single vendors.

RS Taichi for example are one - god the fit and suppleness of their suits!
Kushitani, HYOD are other examples.

Not sure whatever happened to Nankai nowadays?

yeah ive read some of the pro riders wore nankai and kushitani, I read that the company went out of business after the old man nankai passed away. since posting my query ive read a few other reviews where guys were saying it is pretty good gear if its the original stuff, apparantly there are nankai branded helmets now on the market which arent great but by all accounts the original leathers and gloves are pretty good, The set im looking at is a 2 piece, looks like originals as there second hand but in very good condition

Cheers for all the replies everyone
