What AJS is it?
I suspect its a Honda Benley 'clone' engine, with a single carb, least wise that was what was in the Raptor DD125 Snowie had.....
Horrible until thoroughly warm, and choke sensitive.
The Benley Series motors are prone to start up on just one pot, the other kicking in when warm.
However, I'd start with the basics.....
Check the plug leads!
Check the plugs.
It should be a single CDI ignition on those, the coil firing both plugs at the same time, on the 'lost spark' principle. So if its running, its got a spark, which means that if one pot ent getting hot....
either that pots plug isn't firing,. meaning plugs duff or fouled, cap or HT lead.
Also, single carb, if one pots got a fire in the hole, no reason the other shouldn't, as they suck from the same source.
Limits checking to a leaky inlet manifold, or a stuck shut valve.
SO... plug leads, plug cap, plugs,
Then my next check, wip the rocker cover off, check the tappet clerances.
If its the Benley engine, I suspect they should be about 0.05mm on the rock, which is a reasonable figure to use if you dont have a book..... which If its the Raptor, it probably wont have!
Which is another ponder point, how many miles it done?
Benley mortors need fresh oil every 1000 miles, and the sump strainer inside the engine removing and cleaning.
Few Hondas get that little attension, and they dont have the excuse there's no manual for them..... so I suspect that an AJS licence copy has probably never been touched....
If you dont want it to die a horrible death though, worth doing!
