Evenin' guys and gals Smile

My current helmet is a Shark S800 which I bought just over 3 years ago when I got my scooter. It's been very well looked after with no drops or knocks.

The last couple of weeks I have noticed that it doesn't fit as tightly as it used to. It's by no means slack and still a pretty snug fit but it's definitely a bit looser underneath and generally all round. Another thing I've noticed is that it's gotten INCREDIBLY noisy (wind noise that is). I don't ever remember it being this bad. It's gotten to the extent that I can barely hear the sound of my engine over the wind rush.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the lining or something or is it time for a replacement?

Thanks in advance! Smile

If you are for changing, I'd recommend an Arai.
You get the lid custom fitted to make it fits well and reduces noise, and you also get a 5 year warranty, allowing you to bring your lid in every 6 months for a service and too re-pad it if necessary etc.
So basically if you were in this position with your shark, but having and Arai instead, you could bring it in and get it custom fitted again, making it fit like it did when it was new.

Have you lost weight?

To tell if your helmet fits you properly. Can you push fit your fingers between your forehead and the helmet? (If so helmet is too loose).

One other thing to try, is to pull your helmet sharply downwards, it shouldn't move much.

...

Helmet choice depends on your finances, dearer helmets such as Shoei & Arai, have the choice of thicker replacement pads.

Or you can simply pop into your nearest shark dealer and order a set of firmer cheek pads, that's most likely where the issue is assuming you've not recently had a ton of hair shaved off or the like Laughing

I have an s800, all the pads inside are removable in mine so I can take them out and wash them in Johnsons shampoo. A quick wash should plump them out a little more or if you have a washing machine with a low temperature setting maybe you could put them in that?
