Just a quick question to anyone in the know.

Let's say a Polish guy came over from Poland (obv.) and brought his old car. I don't know how long he's been here but the car is MOT'd and taxed but still has Polish number plates.

What's the deal as to buying the car off of him in terms of the registration document? If it's still Polish could that be transferred to me or would I need to see the DVLA to get a UK plate?

Seen a wee car but the Polish plates are putting me off.

Any info welcome!

Cheers.

Counts as an import if he sells it, I believe, so you'd need to get it transferred...

As far as I know if you purchased it you'd have to go through all the normal things when you import a car as it would be classed as an import if you changed it to UK plates.

I think that includes an MOT, the check you have to have if your car is written off (Cat C or above) and some other things.

To put it shortly? I think it'd be a MAJOR arsepain and it's not worth it at all, plus it might be a bit squiffy and you won't get anything back if it is I imagine.

IMO? Avoid. Thumbs Up!

Ah, normal SVA crap etc? I thought that was only applicable to cars outside the EU, I don't know why. I thought a car that was brought in from within the EU might have been easier.

Cheers, I shall avoid. Thumbs Up

Was only for a project anyway Laughing
