The only thing I hate about clocking 12k miles per yer is the fact that it HAS to go through a major service every 12-18 months.

Mine's on 36k miles at the moment, but I've put at least 24k miles in my 2 years of hard ownership (commuter, scratcher, winter hack!)

My '00 929 Blade has had so many things replaced within the last 8 months including serviced / reconditioned shocks with K-tech springs matched to my weight. Altenator went so it had to be rewound coupled with a new Reg Rec, warped dics etc.

I'm capable of doing minor services BUT I don't have the facilities so each time it needs attention, it goes to the garage costing me some £££!

So my question to the high milers - in particular those that clock in excess of 10k each year and also through winter, what have you found knackers the bike? Is it the age or the fact that the wheels are turning more frequently?

86 Yam RXS100
378,755 miles.

To my knowledge, quite comfortably the highest mileage RXS in existence, but I'd be happy to find someone else who has done even more on one Laughing

Rarely do anything to the bike beyond topping up the battery, adjusting the brakes/chain and putting air in the tyres. Bike has a better mileage/lack of maintenance ratio than any other bike on the road, I think.

And this is my low mileage Africa Twin, the previous one had 130,000 miles on it when I sold it.....well 30,000 on the clock, but that's Honda's fault for not adding an extra digit.

How much of that RXS rolled out of the factory as part of that bike?

Pics of the old beast?

Oh yeah and mine = 2001 CBR600f 18500 miles

Most of the bike is original. The motor isn't - but I've rebuilt the original one and it's been waiting to go back in for two years. Current motor has done about 120K but refuses to cark it. Original motor has done about 260,000 miles with two crank rebuilds and two rebores.

Some of the bits haven't done the full mileage. Occasionally something like the swingarm comes off for new bushes and a spare might be on the bike for 500-1000 miles. But I try to keep as many of the original bits in service as possible.

The bike on the day it passed its 22nd MOT:

Just far enough away so the worst of the rust, filth and corrosion isn't visible Laughing
