I need to make an international payment to a german bank.
I have bic and swift code atc but my bank (barclays) want to charge me £15 to make the payment 79e50

Anyone know of a safe alternative to paying this to my bank to do it?

They won't take a card payment and can only set up a dd to a german account

I always use www.xe.com for transferring money to Europe

It's free for EFT but wires cost some money (but waaaaaaaay less than the bank)

not easy to do without going through a bank
I had a similar issue trying to pay money into my Dutch bank account
they wanted to charge me even though both my UK bank & my Dutch bank are part of the same group Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for that, i've registered and will wait until it is all completed to see what they want to charge.
It is only for payment to ADAC for my euro breakdown cover renewal.

They took debit card for new membership but not for renewals. Rolling Eyes

Just had a look at one of my business accounts (alliance and leicester/santander)
I can do it all online banking but they want £17.50 for me taking the trouble to let me enter all the details myself

Is there a significant difference in the price between new and renewal? If not then why not cancel and then take out a new policy. Have you tried phoning ADAC to see if they will take a phone payment?

No difference at all but might be good for account history to keep same membership running, as yet not used and don't want to be in sweden or something in the middle of the night and break down to be told only 500 miles recovery as it's first year or some similar excuse

Is it better joining the ADAC directly instead of the AA, I know if your an ADAC member and break down in the UK then the AA come out anyway. ARe the ADAC better for european cover?

Yes for the fact that the AA want £100 for a week long trip extension to standard cover and adac only want 79e50 for euro wide annual cover

Do you not have the option to have this included as part of your insurance? I pay £50 extra a year for Euro breakdown with Ebike.

I suggest you read the t&c document for your breakdown cover.

They can refuse cover for just about anything, like non manufacturer parts and servicing, not being able to prove service history on the spot etc

So, unless your bike is totally standard, serviced using oe quality parts by a vat registered business and you carry your service history with you they can and have refused service
