Anyone know of the common faults with these bikes? Are they reliable etc? Are they any good at al?

The Mrs wants one and I have no experience with them at all.

Thumbs Up

Its an NC30 with a bodykit. What is to know? It'll be easier to get parts for than an NC24, but it won't give you much else over an NC24.

I am right in saying your missus has an NC24...?

Yeah, you got it! She fancies a change, not being the tallest girl in the world, she struggles to sit on most bikes.

Good to know that it's just a bodykit in the difference, so I presume they are generally pretty reliable? Just don't want it breaking down on her and her getting stranded!

The Tyga body kits offend my eyes even when done well, when done on the cheap they should be burnt (the owners, not the unfortunate bike).

NC30's are good bikes, though they're not very short arse friendly as the seat is quite wide. They are also becoming harder and harder to find in decent condition.

They can also be an absolute pain in the arse to work on.
Make sure you get one that hasnt been abused by a 17yr old Rossi wannabe, cos it will cost you a fortune to put right.

Sweet handling bikes though.

Bishbash,

All you'll be doing is upgrading from an NC24 to a bike that is |.| this much better. Sure, when new the NC30 was quite a leap ahead, but a sorted NC24 against a probably shagged 1989 NC30 with a cheapo bodykit on it is not really quite the same level of improvement.

If she wants a change, why not actually change rather than just buy the same bike (because, effectively thats what she'd be getting!).

May I reccomend something like an ER6F, or SV650 or something? Even some sports 600's will be short enough for her no doubt. Don't forget I'm only 5ft5 and a half (the half is important!) so I've got experience of what it is like to choose a bike based upon seat height. I wouldn't reccomend a Triumph Daytona 675 for example, but I've never had trouble with CBR600's and R6's and the like.
