OK, so I've bought an '84 GSX 550 to play with over summer, for the princely sum of £150. Unfortunately the CDI is cream crackered so that leaves me with a choice of options.....
1) New Genuine Fragile Suzuki CDI £380
2) 2nd hand as above ££ss don't know
3) Aftermarket CDI from New Zealand, approx £120 delivered, unknown brand, retains existing wiring
4) Boyer Bransden, approx £102 delivered, means changing pickups, harness etc.

So, what do people reckon is the best way to go?

I'm tending to the Boyer route, having had good experiences running one on my old BMW.

Comments welcomed

Looks like I'm going the Boyer route then, in the absence of any comments to the contrary! Very Happy

common problem, resistors have gone, they are under the front of the cdi, just inside the cdi as it joins the terminal block, get eletrical guru to sort, wont cost a lot.

Hmm, I'm handy with a soldering iron, tell me more.

I couldn't find a schematic, so was loath to dig to far.

mate of mine used to repair CDI units, had a gsx one in when i popped round last time and was soldering in new resistors, where the block is on the front of the box where the multi block fits,, strip it down and check them out, aint going to cost you much if you fix it yourself.
