A biker friend of mine died on Friday. He was in full leathers, had his helmet on and everything. They say it was his own fault, and I hate to say it but I think I agree.

He was following a van and it braked suddenly to let someone go into a driveway, my mate tried to swerve out from behind the van, but he clipped it and got thrown off his bike onto the other side of the road, where a tanker came along and.. well.. you can guess the rest.

I'm assuming he was following too close to the van, otherwise he should have been able to stop.

It really hit me how we should listen to our bike instructors when we did our cbt, or DAS, don't break the two second rule. If you do, you could end up like my friend, dan.

Please read and take note, remember, only a fool breaks the two second rule.

the thing that i fucking HATE is when you leave a gap betwean you and the car in front, often less than 2 seconds... and someone assumes your slow and useless, and overtakes you pulling into the space you left.
the other day i had about 6 cars overtake me cause i committed the sin of leaving a 1 second gap Mad

I don't think it affected me as much as it did my dad, his mate really, but it hit me how we should listen on our cbt etc. It really hit my dad, I'm there for him now.

What a shame. Hearing of other people's friends dying on their bikes just brings back my own grief of the loss of my own mates. Its never a nice feeling, and its just as bad when its not even a mate of your own, once you've lost someone close yourself.

We can all try to ride perfectly, wear the right things, not drink/smoke/fuck up whilst on the bikes, but at the end of the day, when our time comes, it doesnt matter how hard we try, if that's what's been marked on our card . . .

I hope it doesn't take you too long to come to some kind of terms with the loss, Craig xx

If you leave a 2 second gap, 6 cars will jump into it, and youll end up going backwards to remake a 2 second gap.

Its frustrating as hell. What can you do?

Very sorry to hear about this tragedy.

Sorry to hear this and hope you all can come to terms with your loss quickly.

"Fault" seems such a harsh word. We all have momentary lapses of concentration and it is sad that some pay a higher price for theirs.
