I'm not a doctor but ibuprofen is a pretty effective pain killer.

I'd get on to the hospital/gp/emergency doctor etc. Pain could be being caused by lack of blood leading to tissue death (ischemia) I think that's what happened House... lol

Surly its best not to dislodge a blood clot in case it moves into the heart or brain?

The injections will be more likely something to dissolve it, not dislodge it.

Doctors take clots very seriously because of the possibility of them dislodging before being dissolved.

Make sure she is correctly taking whatever medications they may have given her, and that she attends whatever appointments she has been made, regularly - as they *may* be taking blood to check her INR/PT to see how her blood is thinning, and whether to adjust her doses accordingly.

If it becomes more painful, hot and swollen, then take her to A&E.

We've just come back from the doctors she has been given 2 more injections, to thin her blood and some sleeping tablets for a night time.

Maybe i'll be able to get some sleep tonight.

Why, do you sleep with your mum?

Hmm, blood clot in leg, doc gives sleeping tablets and 2 injections.......doesn't sound right.

Initial treatment is warfarin, taken orally. As it takes a day or so to kick in then Enoxaparin can be injected to start the blood thinning process off. Giving sleeping pills? Makes sense that the patient will not feel the clot moving Rolling Eyes

Even though you mainly post crap on here, I have nothing but sympathy for you at the moment. Hope she gets better.

Warfarin are not sleeping pills, they thin the blood. Once they start working the daily/twice daily injections stop.
