Usually it's 10% over the limit but depending on what sort of day the fuzz are having you could be OK - if it was 65mph or over I certainly wouldn't fancy your chances.

50/50 on getting the usual fine and 3 points I reckon.

If it was a car hiding behind a bush, then I think they would have to then persue and apprhend you on the spot, rather than issuing a NIP through the post.

Certainly that's the way it happens down here.

Hmmm, he was on the opposite side of a dual carriageway with a speed gun, he wasn't in a position to swing it round and follow because each side is divided by a grass embankment, I'm certain he was just snapping cars for an NIP.

If he was on the opposite side of the road with the speed gun then you don't have anything to worry about.

The gun was pointing towards me I mean, he was on the opposite side to get a good view of people in the faster lane.

Agreed.

Makes you wonder if the 'bastard' was 'hiding behind a low wall and a bush' in respect of the oncoming traffic? Wink

If he has a gun on the other side of the road, facing you, you really dont need to be worried...

Your reg is on the back remember Wink

Dont the guns pickup speed and reg number? Can't see a manually jotted down reg number really going down in court as evidence?

This style of trap usually involves an immediate pull. Either through a follow or flag down. 14 days to be sure but I wouldnt be worrying

It is possible to jot it down and deal with it later. Not sure how to go around it though. Also possible to do it without a speed gun...again not sure how this is done.

I wouldn't worry about it, chances are your true speed would be less than 60mph (around 54/55 I would guess), which isn't worth pulling someone for in my opinion.

I did 45 in a 30 in a car, copper was hiding in a bush. Neutral

Turns out he was just doing speed awareness rather than gunning people down.. So I'm safe Very Happy

The road in question used to be a 50mph 5 years ago, then got changed to a 40 limit and now it's 30mph.

They have a nice little earner don't they!

Thumbs Down
