I have been counting the old pennies and have approx 3K spare to spend in the coming month or so.
I already have a every dayer and a classic so this is for grin factor only.
I have been doing the rounds and looking at various bikes and have settled on the 4 above and although obviously not new with 0 miles, it is quite possible to buy each at 3k and under.
Mileage is irrelevant to me. I would rather inspect it and see for myself and I'm not fussed if it's done 15k or 50k as long as the engine is good with no knocks and free from smoke etc.
Also not overly fussed about original paint either as the chances are I'll probably change it anyway.
The bottom of my list so far, but not discluded, is the 929 due to the fact I'm a big chap ( ok, ok fucking fat then you bastards) and that it is the smallest of the 4.
What would you go for? ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Ive had this view before MCN started banging on about litre bikes
Unless you are doing some epic miles or racing then i really don't see the point in getting anything over a litre bike while living in the UK.
p.s. i voted for the blade ( i have been scanning ebay for a while now ) |

It depends on what you want really...
Blackbirds are confortable and no doubt reliable. I found the busa a bit too heavy at low speed, both are epic touring bikes. Never been on the 12, but they look alright and don't seem massive. The 929 would be great for track days and hooning about on, but it's no touring bike.
Personally i'd get the blackbird and make sure my passport was up to date |

I sat on my mates 954 and it seemed ok but a little cramped, knees under your armpits job. I'm 6' 3 so need something with a little height.
The blackbird was a nice ride out. Took my mates 98 one out (the carbed one). I reckon I could just about shout for the injected model.
Sat on a busa and found that a bit low but heard you can raise them???. I let a little man wee out on that one.
I have seen and dribbled over the zx12r and had a quick sit on it while the owner was in the shop
It felt 'right' but I don't know much about them mechanically... ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

I voted blackbird despite owning a blade! I you want all day comfort and mile munching ability, get the 'Bird. One of my colleagues at work has a K2 GSXR750 and a 01 Blackbird and 80% of the times, he prefers the 'Bird... does everything he needs or can do with the Gixxer, but a lot more comfortable.
Having said that, 929's are holding their prices very well. I'd go for a 954 personally, BUT a well sorted 929 will be just as good.
As with any hondas, electrics will be the biggest problem. 929's commonly blow out their reg/recs and in my case, burnt the altenator. They have all sorts of electrical issues, dodgy sensors that go with age. 954's MAY have the problems but no where near as bad as 929's. But everything else is a peach.
Suspension is BANG on for the roads. The engine is unimposing and only goes as fast as you want it to. I've had it doing 174 indicated vs 162 indicated on my mate's CBR600 F-S, but still had plenty to go on the autobahn before I could see a truck pull out in the distance.
Comfort is OK for the blade - I have done 400 mile days on her no problems, but carrying a pillion for more than 2 hours will strain your back.
Comfort conneseur would buy a 'Bird, comfortable and undervalued. Smart superbiker would get a 954.. I would only consider a 929 if it was <£2500. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

My mate has a 12, he is a loon, he rides it like a loon, he loves it. Thirsty though and likes to munch tyres. ____________________ Suzuki GSX-R750K4 ~ Mivv GP |
