Ended up buying a nicely running example for 200 quid, engine sounds great, no bad rust or pitting anywhere (other than the normal surface rust in places), wiring lume is a tad bodged but it works!

Needs a fair few things replaced, chain sprockets some of the cables, brake shoes etc and I'll be re painting the frame, none of which is major imo!

Had to rip her to pieces for transportation back to my house as I'am in uni accom at the moment

Frame and engine taken home, painted the frame and the various plates and stands etc that bolt on!

Did you do any prep work on that frame?

Lots of sand paper, wire brush plus a wire brush attachment and a drill! Can't honestly say that I got rid of all the older paint but any rust is gone.

There is a few unpainted patches seen in the photo which are done now, had to go over the frame several times to find various nooks n crannies I hadn't painted.

Not a picture perfect job I'll admit, getting it sand blasted and then spraying would of made a much cleaner job but tbh the tinned hammerite cost a tenner and will protect it just as much. (Uncle uses it for the bottom of land rovers that he restores so I know it'll protect the bike frame metal fine)

Not going to see the frame much either so again it doesn't particularly bother me, I was actually quite suprised how well most of it turned out! Reassembly will happen next weekend so I'll see what it all looks like then!

Pieced most of her together today, runs and sounds lovely! Smile

Just needa attach speedo and wait till May when I can afford a new brake cable, chain and sprockets plus new oil n spark plugs! Sad

Yeah its got that front brace with 4 bolts, a top bracket with 3 bolts and two main bolts into the centre of the frame!

I have faith in its ability to hold its engine Very Happy

Namely because I went 100 miles on the CG without realizing that the top engine brackets had came off along with the nuts holding the bolts on and were sitting on top of the engine block.... yet stayed there the whole trip which was abit retarded! Laughing
