Hmmm Skegness, so classy it hurts...

Off there tomorrow, hopefully it wont be absolutely chucking it down (like i think it might)

I usually go from derby stright down the A52 via Grantham and Boston, am i missing any really good roads in the area? dont mind going a little further out, just wondered if anyone knew any really good ones?

Yes, you are!

Off the top of my head, go up the A52 to Grantham then come out of there on the A607 to wards Sleaford.

Stay on it all the way to Sleaford then as you come across the 2nd railway crossing you'll come to a roundabout, go left (towards Boston and Lincoln) Then you'll come to a big roundabout and you want to head off in the direction of Kings Lynn (stay with me!!)

About half a mile up the dual carriageway from the roundabout is a left turn onto the A153 (You've actually been on that road since you left Grantham, but it starts halfway down the A607 Rolling Eyes )

Follow that all the way to Horncastle, then take a right following the signs for Skegness on the A158. Takes you all the way there, but it's decent A roads with some rather good twisty sections.

For even more twisty bits on the way back, come back via Lincoln (tis out of the way though) as the road that brings you back into the top of Lincoln from Skegness is good (but watch out for nutters in Max Power cars and plod!)

Agree with Adam P. The A153 from Sleaford is decent enough to get you in the right area and is also signposted quite well so don't worry about dodgy directions( Razz). I haven't explored the area enough to come accross any really good biking roads though. Also beware of speed cameras as the A153 is apparently an "accident blackspot"...

The most simple route would be to get on the Fosse Way up to Lincoln, then the A158 all the way over to Skeggy.

It's not just that one, there's plenty of those roads in Lincolnshire.

At least they're more up to date on the stats now mind. Rolling Eyes

I used to live in Boston (just down the road) and a lot of my family still do. I wish we had roads in Oxfordshire like theirs!

The A52 from Boston to Skegness is a nice road. It's about 26 miles and has a mixture of tight bends, sweeping bends and balls-out straights! There are two gatso speed cameras (from memory) but they're both in 30/40 zones anyway.

Alternatively, take the A16 out of Boston towards Spilsby. Again, there is a good mixture of roads. You can hit Spilsby and then take the A158 to Skegness. It's a good road but has more 30/40 zones than the A52.

One fantastic piece of road is the B1183 from Revesby to just outside Horncastle. There are some very tight corners and lovely bends - go there on a sunny day and you'll see loads of bikes hooning up and down. Be warned though, some of the corners are deceptively tight - one turns right back on itself and you won't realise that until you're halfway round it if you don't know it. Several bikes have gone into fields there! Just take it steady (until you know it) and it's a great little road.

Ive only ever done the 607 out of Grantham via Boston, and for the most part i wasn't all that impressed with the roads, as far as twisties go, but i havnt had the oppurtunity to really explore the area, so im sure that there are better roads. Its a nice ride from Skeggy, to Kings Lyn and then to Hunstanton, where i had a nice icecream sat on the beach. Laughing

I Think the Fosse way is one of my favourite bike roads, as although it heavily populated with Mobile speed cameras, its nice to have a miles and miles long stretch of road, that actually has some nice high speed sweeping bends, and really nice scenery too.

I havnt ridden around Oxfordshire a great deal, but i do like the A44 from Evesham to Oxford, thats a nice road in parts, with some varied features.

Please have a little consideration for us lot.

Oh, and we're now extensively documenting the plates of excessively noisy bikers passing the village of Moorby, taking it in shifts. Anyone with one of those nifty plate changers will have their description and bike make etc. passed on immediately to the police, the rest just reported for dangerous driving and antisocial behaviour.

It's a public highway, not a race track - restrict your noisy revving to Cadwell please chaps. Pass this info on if you will.

you sad sad fuck.

This thread is six years old almost to the day, why on earth have you suddenly appeared now and started complaining?

Unfortunately bikers are perfectly lawfully allowed to ride through your village while their vehicles are taxed, MOTd, insured and roadworthy.

If they are being antisocial or speeding then fine, the police will deal with them, but complaining to people here, very few of whom have probably ever been on that road, will sadly bring little benefit.

Restrict YOUR whingeing for someone who cares that the Neighbours omnibus obviously wasn't shown on C5 today, rendering you perfectly licensed to go and re-open a 5 year old thread, you fuktard.

In case I was being too subtle... STFU.

Thanks, "chaps".

Its little officious S***'s like you that are ruining this country. If you dont want loud bikes going past your house, then move. If the bikes are road legal then you have no argument.

I think im going to start complaining about all the car drivers that SMIDSY me, I think ill write there plates down, send the police the video from my helmet cam and have them done for dangerous driving.

People like you really piss me off.
