Thought i would post this in case anyone was thinking of 'going small'.
I got pulled by police today for having illegal sized reg plate. £60 fine. I've had the bike 2 months and it's MOT is due tomorrow. I was going to change it after today's ride permanently. Sod's law i got pulled!

On the plus side i didn't receive any points on my license and i didn't get done for speeding (it was a 60 and i was probably doing 60-75).

I have to admit the copper was pretty decent and wasn't arrogant at all, so i guess they're not all bad apples Razz

Here's the offending plate with the cringe worthy text below (the copper just laughed at it).

They recently doubled the fines for car seatbelts, and registration plates to £60, although still no points thankfully!

Bad luck for getting stopped, I had a traffic cop in his car stare at my dark visor today but he let me get on with it, he must have been a biker!

Meh, 1 liners are maximum piss take, so I'm not surprised.

Also like to point out that the comically over sized plate is illegal since it doesn't conform to the standard, so they could get done for that too. Laughing

1 liners are illegal, so while a small square plate might get away with a warning, the letterbox ones aren't if you are stopped. Crying or Very sad

Bit harsh. Copper could have just warned you and told you to replace it, that's what they normally do. Guess they've been told to screw all the cash they can get out of the punters, like we haven't got enough woes already.

The usual caveat: you weren't fined, the copper offered to take a bribe to not prosecute you.

If you're feeling feisty, you can always choose not to pay the bribe, go in front of a Magistrate and then plead guilty - if the CPS prosecute it and the copper shows up.

In this case though, you're banged to rights and were indeed ripping the piss.

Single line plates are a bad idea. They get picked up by ANPR while stacked plates apparently don't. That's according to a police biker acquaintance of mine.

Got to pay for our parties somehow!

All depends on the officer, I will give out a ticket every time for someone using their mobile, others will give words of advice. Some give out tickets or a VDRS for a number plate, I'll generally give words of advice, unless I've already stopped them before or they are lippy towards me.

Or maybe they where just low on their ticket targets for the month? Wink

I've gone only 1" donw in size. Think its a 6x4 now instead of 7x5.

1 letter on lower line
4 characters on top line.

Only gone down a tiny bit so not to draw too much attention to it.

But it looks the bollocks Wink Came off my ex show car.

As for being pulled, if you've got an illegal plate and get tugged for it, no-one can really moan. Take the risk, can't cry when we're done for it.

You watch, first time I take it out, i'll be pulled Laughing

The 'ironic' part is that his plate is just as illegal as a small plate.

Can I just ask though what is the point of a single line number plate if you keep the stock indicators??

Because stock indicators look better than 99% of cheap tat mini indicators.

Well, i didn't put the plate on so i can't answer that Razz

I'm not that fussed about changing the indicators to be honest.

Saxosports, bloody hell that was a fair few years ago then. Yeah I arranged the Corsa Vs Saxo day Smile Corsasport still runs (does SS?), but dont use that anymore either.

Ironically, still own one of the corsas too Wink Just not mine.

Bikes was always the number 1 really, just took me a while to remember that. Laughing
