i'm selling my cbr and am looking at what bike i want next as it's replacement. with the money from the cbr and a little bit i have saved myself i have about £3700 to spend. I keep finding bikes i really like such as sp1's/sp2's, rsv factorys, cbr600rr7-8, street triples, daytona 675's. i could go on forever as i havnt begun narrowing it down yet Laughing . All these bikes seem to be around £5000 for the condition and miles i want.

This will probably seem like a stupid question to a lot of you but i have never had dealing's with finance before, so could i put say 3.5k down as a deposit and pay the remaining 1.5k by monthly installment's? what sort of rates do you get with finance these days?. i hear all this jazz about 0% over so many years but i'm guessing thats just on brand new bikes as they know there already having your pants down. Help me people

I'd avoid finance like the plague, £3.7k is more than enough for an awesome bike. Unlikely to find any 0% deals, saw some on a new Kawasaki recently but it was £10k+..

my cbr is an awesome bike. i want super awesome though Laughing
if i avoided finance i could probably cope with a crash damaged bike aslong as its mainly plastics as i can put chinese fairings on. my cbr has chinese fairings and the quality is far far better than i thought it would be. That would also put me in a good position for resale value aswell. I just fancied trying something newer.

suggestions on which bike to go for would be welcomed too, im not going to start a new thread for it as i'm still waiting for prices to drop a bit first. Im open to pretty much anything, think i'm edging toward a v-twin because i've not had one before and i love the sound Drooling

V twin would be awesome, I'm sure alot of people would suggest getting a thou inline 4, but meh. Had mine for 3 months now (fzr1000 exup), and I regret selling my fmx650. Just is too easy to go quick. Just my 2 pence, good luck with whatever you get!

yeah pretty much the only bikes i have ruled out are inline 4 thou's. I find the 600 plenty fast enough, probably too fast for our roads if im honest but it's nice to have it, if only for overtakes and trackdays.

Depends just how good you are with cash? One way is, if like me you have two C.C. Pay on one and do a balance transfer on to the other. And then don't use the card you have loaded up. You can get it at quite a low rate. Some will give you zero percent for so many month's, and you can pick how much you pay each month. Well worth looking in to.

you could build a turbo bike for 3.7k and have change left over Shifty

I'd need more than 3.7 k for that, considering i'd have to pay somebody else to build it Laughing

i wouldnt know where to start.

I'm pretty bad with cash TBH, if it's not a payment i 'have' to make i will put it off until the last possible minute and then get in a right tangle with it. Im fine with loan repayments and direct debit's that go out on a set date each month though

It does sound like a good idea but i just wouldnt trust myself with a credit card. I bought a big tv a few years ago for £600 on a flexible payment plan with 0% interest for 12 months, i didnt pay anything off until month 11 and i only did it then as if i went over 12 months the interest they threw ontop was more than the cost of the tv Laughing

You'd probably be better off getting a bank loan to cover the difference.

0% finance on some bikes isnt so bad but you will end up paying list price on them, unless you can haggle the dealer down anyway.

Otherwise, as already said a small bank loan to cover the difference will probably be better.

Finance is awful, if you are gonna do it that way, go to your bank and get a loan.

I got a 2k loan for the Ducati in 06

0% interest credit card if I was you. I think you can only get a grand on them to start off with though. Pay it back within a year though, have a look at moneysavingexpert

There are a fair amount of 0% credit cards out there, if you haven't settled it all by time the introductory offer end transfer the remaining balance to a new one, simples.

Depends on credit history, assets and earnings etc, but I have a few with 4-8k credit limits on 0%.

My 848 is on finance, got quite a good deal too.

good to hear your after something different because lets face it, all inline 4's have the same characteristics as everything else out there so you'd get bored again quickly

think i'm going to avoid the finance and go for a 04/05 rsv factory. they seem to be going for about 4k for a good one. Cbr is going for 3.3k so its not a huge ammount to save up, plus im hoping prices will come down again in the next month or two
