Paddock Stands

Evenin' all.

Jus a quick question to ask if anyone had any paddock stands i could borrow for me to use to aid me in fixing my bike after this: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=216353

I just use a couple of axle stands, much less space needed than a paddock stand and just as sturdy I found. (10 quid from Lidl )

Forgot to say, before anyone says how easy it is to use the paddock stand etc... I've lifted the back up onto them on all height settings by tipping the bike to one side then tipping it to the other etc, not as quick but not as difficult or long as you might expect.

Same with the front (although I did use a trolley jack to lift that then dropped it onto the axle stands at their highest setting)

When my sump went and I had no paddock stand, I just kicked it on its side, using a thick rug in had in the shed to act as ballast against the gravel patio.

Cardboard is equally effective. It also meant that getting the exhaust headers on and off was a doddle and the sump was RIGHT there!

Your bike's already unfortunately broken but this will be a cheap, temporary measure if you have the space! I presume its to get at your downpipes no?

Not a good pic since it was taken in the dark... but if you can't get the stand.. consider that too.

No risk of any fluids because it was totally drained - oil and coolant. I made sure of that first before kicking it on its side. I did have to bleed the brake lines entirely though, but seeing that I was due to service the calipers at the same time, it didn't matter much.

If your bike is in a wreck, then it could just be as cheap to do it that way.
