PostPosted: 13:38 - 15 Sep 2009    Post subject: Pulse Adrenaline CDI, Help Required Reply with quote

Hello, I have recently bought a new CDI for my Pulse Adrenaline and was wondering if anyone could point me towards the whereabouts of the CDI on the bike. I believe the Adrenaline has the same engine as a Suzuki EN-125 if that helps. Just wanted to fit it myself, looks simple enough, just to save myself from taking it down my local shop which is occupied by a bunch of "waste my time with rubbish" mechanics. Thanks in advance.

It's under the seat. Large-ish (about 4 inches by 2.5, give or take) black plastic box, with (dependent on the year of the bike) two plugs coming out of it. Some years have got one plug. I'll go home and check mine, if you need more specifics than that, but as I say - they changed between years.
I'm guessing you bought the CDI from Xian Racing - make sure that you're positive the connections are the same. I think their kit is usually for pre-2008 models, but I'm not 100% on that.

Thankyou! I will give it a look shortly. Yes I did get it from Xian Racing Caerphilly, made sure it would fit my bike though (2008). Will get back to you with the outcome, many thanks!

Be warned: mine is also an '08, and their CDI didn't fit. I know that they update their stock pretty frequently, but I had to send back a lot of stuff to them.
The kit that I ended up fitting can be found here. To be honest, give it an air filter and a new exhaust, and that's probably the most you're likely to get out of it. I'm not sure if a new CDI will unlock any untapped reserves of horsepower... Wink

EDIT - didn't see that you'd already fitted it. Any chance of a link?

hi,
i wouldnt mind seeing a pic of the CDI also.
just curious to see what xian are selling, as i know gareth the guy that set up xian & he knows his stuff about chinese bikes, though most of these so called "race" cdi's are a waste of money.
curious to see if he has any upgraded stuff.(with rev limiters removed etc)
i know the cdi he gave me actually made the bike run worse!
(seem to be a bit hit & miss these things)
glad he gave me it for free, for testing out.
i must add that a decent carb & open air filter makes the biggest improvement.
cheers,
GAZ

I've been wondering about the carb, as it goes: the one I was sent didn't fit properly, but I was anxious to give the upgrade another go with the change of can and filter. What's the most popular size/make/type?

CDI I bought here...

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kamikaze-Pro-RM200-Advanced-CDI-Pulse-Adrenaline-8-pin_W0QQitemZ320423458843QQcategoryZ36796QQcmdZViewItem

Removes the rev limiter and increases acceleration ever so slightly, got it at a huge discount with the Kamikaze Pro exhaust i also bought which can be found here...

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kamikaze-Pro-Exhaust-Pulse-Adrenaline-Qingqi-Superbyke_W0QQitemZ390085244116QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item5ad2e474d4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I am going to fit the exhaust to tomorrow, I will let you know if it it lives up to my expectations.

Can you recommend a good air filter?

Just go for any of the cheapo pod filters that'll fit your carb. You needn't spend more than £5-6 on it. Just measure the outer diameter of the air intake on carb accurately, or you'll have a bugger of a time fitting it.

I fitted the exhaust a few days ago, fantastic upgrade. Makes the bike a hell of a lot more torquey with a great boost in acceleration. Not sure when either peice has done to the top end yet as I haven't yet taken it out of the city. Recommend them both though. Thumbs Up

If you are going to fit a different carb and air flter you might want to concider those fitted to 125cc pitbikes since they already run pod filters/ free flow exhaust and are jetted for them.

Yup, it's called a full license.

The air filter won't actually make the bike faster, only a bit louder - it might improve the throttle response marginally, but it was only marginal, from what I remember. As to where you fit it - you'll need to remove the airbox completely; that's the large black plastic box that's towards the rear of the bike, attached directly to the carb.

Four-strokes aren't anywhere near as tweak-able as two-strokes, so there's not really any chance of you getting more power out of the engine without some serious work (I'm talking about cam reprofiling, compression increases and the like) - and even if you did drop the huge amounts of money required to do those things, it'll just be a grenade on wheels at the end of it.

LED bulbs? Wouldn't bother - they're crap as far as visibility's concerned. New plastics - I'd go to CMPO - that's where I bought all my parts from; they're pretty good pricewise, and deliver quickly.

No worries. The acronym that I wrote stands for Chinese motorcycle parts online, and it already is a link - see where it's blue, instead of black? That means that it's a clickable link.

It'll just be a waste of your money. All it'll do is raise the rev limit slightly, and shorten the engine lifespan.
