Lenses.

If you've got to, then you have to. I would make sure you stick em in some good cleaning solution for as long as poss overnight tho.

Personally I'd rather use glasses and I don't exactly like em, but I hate contacts.

Don't EVER clean em in tap water, but re-using em for 2 days can't do that much in terms of build up of bacteria and crap.

I use to manage an Opticians. You can re use them, and some people do, but you're more likely to get an infection, and the lenses start to become cloudy and blurry.

I would say that some have used them for 2 weeks until they break up, but also some of these types get conjuntivitus and severe dry eyes which I wouldn't want to risk myself.

It's up to you, but the suppliers specification is a day.

I don't wear mine too often, mostly when I'm out for a ride. I get them from https://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com/GB/CountryHomepage.aspx £4.99 for 32, both my eyes are the same so a box does me for about 6 months ! Laughing

Dont sleep in them

take them out early the night before, and soak them in FRESH solution.

Give then a good swish around in the solution before you put them in the next morning to clean out all of yesterdays eye-gunk

Yeah I have.
Loads of times.
I once wore a pair of weeklies for over six months.
I can still see.
Shocked

I wear dailies, simply for the convenience of not having to mess about cleaning them every day. I'm fully aware that I pay more for the privilege, but I don't mind because I like the simplicity.

I've worn contacts every single day for the past 9 years. I don't even own a pair of glasses. I use monthlies without changing them until they either break by some freak accident or my eyes hurt one day and I decide to take a couple hours break (then I change them for the hell of it), but generally my monthlies last me at the very least 4 months a pair although I've gone 6+ on a pair.
Although it's not recommended, I've worn a single pair for months at a time without ever taking them off, not even to sleep, and believe me they don't go "cloudy", that's bullshit. They only go cloudy if you keep your eyes open for a couple of minutes without blinking, but regain their transparency as soon as they become re hydrated.
I've even gone so far in my optical adventures as putting a dried up solid lens in solution for a few days, cleaned it thoroughly and used it without a problem, but I threw it away just in case.

Disclaimer: I have had eye infections (pink eye) 5 or 6 times, but they go away within a couple of days. The only bad one was a microscopic scratch on some part of my eye which required 3 different eye drops and a thick ointment for the night which I can imagine feels like someone jizzed in your eye Laughing

I asked this before.

And ever since I've been using dailies as weeklies/fortnightly or more.

I use bausch and lom or whatever mps which cleans the buggers and other stuff and it's all good.

No eye infections or anything. After awhile they do go blurry and lose their effectiveness but last a lot longer than you think.

I've saved SO MUCH MONEY.

Used to pay 35 quid or so a month (astigmatism and get raped for it).

Last time I bought a "monthly" box was October/November last year.

35 * 12 for the year = 420
35 * 1 for half a year = 35

That's a big fucking saving! Yes the mps solution was like a tenner but it lasts quite long. I tend to use the solution in the case about twice rather than once.

My eyes are still good Razz

yup, I reuse them until they become cloudy and blurry which is roughly 1 - 2 weeks worth. Been doing this for years.

The secret is the solution you buy. Stay away from the boots own brand shit. It's crap.

The best one I've found is the "opti-free" stuff. Works great, affordable and makes the contacts feel like new.

To Svedobo, they do get blurry. You are one man, I have seen many more users than you. So to it being bollocks, how about say it is bollocks in YOUR experience. Suppose you ride a Chinese bike too huh?

Hey,

Personnally i'd never use contact lenses again. I used to use monthly disposables and wear them for roughly 14 hours a day (unbeknown to me this was too long)

A couple of years in i wake up one morning and notice my left is very blurry, dry and sore. Went to the opticians and told i had Corneal Neovascularisation from lack of oxygen to my eye. She told me i had scar tissue on my eye which would proabably get worse if i continued to use contacts.

So instead of damaging my eye further i decided there and then to ditch the contacts and return to glasses. To me my eye sight is far more important than vanity. My peripheral vision in my left eye is now crap. Thankfully the scar tissue isn't over the main part of my eye.

Cheers,
Shaun.

Used to have monthly lenses, would keep them for 3-4 months. Went back to wearing glasses as I'm a lazy fucker.

No I ride a Kawasaki.

Buuuuuuut I did get an eye infection the other day and wasn't allowed to wear contacts for 3 days or I would risk going blind Embarassed

When my parents heard about it they straight up offered to pay for LASIK surgery instead of spending the money on their 15th anniversary (stepdad) Very Happy

In other words don't listen to me, I got lucky

How timely! I've worn dailies for the last 8 years or so, on a subscription plan. The problem is, that sends you more than you need - a pair for every day with no accounting for days off. I just cancelled my subscription, the plan being to go back to glasses. I still have about 3 months worth of dailies left.

Thanks to this thread, I've bought some cleaning solution now - let's see how long they last!

Snap although I was told it was an ulcer???(I think was 20 years ago) I stopped wearing contacts that day and 5-6 months later had laser surgery, best decision I ever made!

To me, being cheap and not spending money, or more abusing what they have been designed for is much like buying a bike and skipping some servicing. Yes you can get away with it on a good Honda perhaps, but one day it will catch up on you. Much like many things in life, heck even motorcycling, we ride and think that we will come home, but even if you are the safest guy on Earth, there's a plonker who could hit and kill you.

If you are going to reuse them, then Optifree is a very good solution. Not many patients have complained about those compared to others. In fact a lot of stuff for contacts get recalled like solution and even lenses because people get problems and some are very serious. In fact if an Optician prescribes something, such as 10 hours a day, then keep it at that. Remember, you only have a pair of eyes and I would think that most of you care about them to be buying contacts in the first place.

I still occasionaly use a pair I've had for at least five years (I believe they're monthlies), and they've only ever been cleaned in saline solution.
