Been with MCE for a year and a half now, and now I want to ADD a second bike.......

Over the past 5 days I have tried to call their 'customer services'

1. Tried several times calling from my mobile in the daytime: listened to their drawn out messages, waited for 6 minutes, got their automatic "Would you like us to call you back?", went through the process and after entering my number got "There was an error, try again at 9am"!!

2. Did all above from home - same result

3. Emailed their enquiries line, didn't ever expect a reply, and wasn't disappointed.

4. Same the next day.

5. Called the quotes line, got straight through (almost); "sorry can't help I'll put you through to Customer services, there's a queue of six" (6x10mins=1 hour) NO!
I said I am picking up the bike the next day, and BTW, your ring back service doesn't work
"OK, I'll leave a note in front of them to call you back" - Fat chance.

6. Three days later all of above. Plus I now want to speak to manager;
"You can't, she's on the customers services line, there's a queue".
Me: OK I'll speak to her manager or any other higher manager.
"I don't know who that is".
Me: What is the customers services manager’s name?
"Jackie"
Second name?
"I don't know"
OK, I want to cancel my policy.
"I'll put you through to cancellations............"
La di da di da.
Now I know why Inspector Clouseau's boss went crazy.

So, OK if you are a new customer, but bloody good luck to you if you want to change or add a bike or anything else.
I have always said, before you buy anything that matters from a large company - try calling their customer services line first.
We don't have this problem with our car insurance at Admiral.
OH, and MCE's opening times on their website are completely different to the details given while hanging on their hold line.

I would rather pay more for my insurance.

When a company is so bad that you would accept a cancellation fee just to get rid of them.......

I was with them for five years, I chopped and changed bikes all the time and it was never an issue.

However, I ditched them when they wanted to charge me £70 to add my MZ to the policy. £70 to insure an MZ!!!! Unbe-freaking-levable, especially when I already had two other higher risk bikes on the policy and I was paying £400 a year for the priviledge.

I am with Carole Nash now and they are similar price wize, but a world apart customer service wise. I suspect its since MCE have been sponsoring the BSB and stuff, they've got more customers than they can handle nowadays.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I managed to get an email address for a Jackie when they messed me around miss selling a policy a few years ago when I needed to escalate a problem - still got the email reply with her address so might be worth a shot? She did sort my issues out and I got my admin fee back as well.

couldn't agree more.

I tried to ring them to check that some details on my policy were correct. After being put through to about 5 different departments I then was on hold for 20 mins!

Hung up and rang back, but to be fair, I got through after that.

They always answer the phone if you want to take out a policy, but never if you want to add/change anything. You're going to give them money ffs?
