Hi
Its time to repaint the exhaust on my YBR again, i usually use bbq paint, now this looks great once on but only lasts about 6 months and about 1 month around the cat area at he bottom as it must get really hot there. Also plastikote has changed its formula to the same as wood stove in that you have to heat it up rather than 73 hours curing time off the bike, so i have decided to try either PJ1 or VHT SP102 flame proof, they both cost around the same but the vht looks very good.
Anybody used the vht?
Thanks
Mark

Hi,
I use VHT paint on my RGV250 exhaust. Had no problems with it.

Somebody on another forum suggested using PJ1 Satin Black Engine Paint. He reckons that it is superior to any of the exhaust paints that he has previously used.

Halfrauds sell a High Temp Paint in a spraycan and paint tin

Seems to work.
Two or three colours too.

Hi Mark, you probably know what I'm about to say Wink. If you're looking for longevity out of your exhaust, might be worth considering a stainless steel system as the bog standard mild steel ones corrode from the inside as well as the outside, so painting them only goes so far.

Personally, I'd prefer to paint the exhaust over buying a new one until the original exhaust is blowing.

Heyas
neil., yes but i cant shell that much out lol, i have repainted the past two years and it still looks ok, just the one spot that gets hot on the bottom, im assuming thats where the cat is, i have opted for the VHT SP02 for the weekends fun respray as ive not tried this before . this seems like a good choice, i will let u know how it goes. I already tried halfords and it was terrible, this is about £4 more expensive than bbq paint so we shall see.
This is the stuff

VHT SP02 Paint sez,

"PLEASE NOTE Due to the flammable nature of this item, delivery is by courier to MAINLAND UK Only"

Shocked

But it's for your exhaust....!!!!

Laughing

It looks the bollocks 1000 Deg C
Just about cuts it.
Cherry red steel is about 800 deg C.
