Hi chaps,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but figured if anyone will know, workshop peeps will Thumbs Up

Does anyone know of anything required to get a cat d bike back on the road (other than the stated damage, of course)? And are there are downsides - resale value once I've fixed it up maybe?

I'm new to this, but I'm keen to get my hands dirty, and I've found a motor with cosmetic damage. I am, however, a bit concerned a to whether there could be unseen problems, which I have no experience of spotting Sad

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cat D: Vehicles of this category are vehicles which the retail repair costs were below the pre-accident value of the vehicle.

That's all a cat D is. Get it repaired, and MOTed. Should be ready to rock.

It'll affect the resale value slightly if it's been registered as a Cat D.

Just need to tell the insurance, ofcourse resale price will go down a bit but still.

Main thing is, you just need to re-mot it, inform the insurance/ send them a copy of the MOT and you are good to go.

How did you manage that when a cat d doesn't need a vic check?

Cat D needs nothing - just fix & ride. And there's no VIC for a bike, only cars.
