Running in a new engine

Hi all

What is considered to be running in?

ive been taking it easy on my newly fixed bike. 5000 revs max for now.

But what should you do? and for how long? to safely run in a new engine (or my recently repaired one Very Happy

Got a new piston set on my bike (RS125) and was given instructions to keep it below 7000RPM for 500 KM

However ideally keep it below 6000RPM, going above this every now and then is fine but dont do it too much.

Make sure you warm it up well also.

I would guess its radically different with a 2-stroke but a new Kwak 636 has a running in time of 600miles Smile

and as said before keep the revs low and just generally be kind Cool

I was told (from the oracle) First
350miles ------- 5000Rpm MAX
+70miles ------- 6
+70 ------------- 7
+70 ------------- 8
+70 ------------- 9
+70 ------------- 10

AH Perfectly run in at 700Miles
