Be good to hear some first hand reviews, I just picked up a Supermaxx front for the Blade for £50 and I'll be getting it fitted thursday. I've heard a lot of good things about them, and for the money they should be worth a try.

Had a quick go on a mates Fazer thou with these on (Works at local bike shop, hes a cheap bugger Laughing )
Didnt really push it, they had done <25 miles since fitting... so cant help too much but from cold were definitely uninspiring, warmed up quick, may be due to warmer weather. Felt more willing to tip in than the BT014 I have on my GSXR, then again, could be down to the bike itself.

Sorry for the shit info Laughing

Nope. But I was quite happy with the normal non-diamond ones.

Looks like a bit of a gimmick to me that'll never catch on. But I bet people said that when they started making radial tyres (in fact, I know one guy who still does say this).

If they are no worse than the standard Maxxis tyres, you'll be fine (and somewhat better off in the wallet department).

Yeah exactly, I heard the the normal spiel off the Maxxis chap at George Whites event the other week and it kinda made sense. But of course he works for Maxxis and he's going to say they're good.

But yes the normal Maxxis are awesome, have them on my Hornet at the moment and did Donington on them and couldn't fault them.

There are two arguments that cross my mind on the diamonds;

First is there is in theory less surface area for contact, but I expect under heavy load the rubber will push down.

Second, is following from the first IF it does mold down under cornering, wouldn't that make the diamond design irrelevant?

I dunno, just brainstorming I suppose! Thinking

I'll keep an eye on my mates, hes got them to test anyway.

I'll see what he says regarding cornering... I was leaning a fair bit on them... cold it didnt seem too great, but warmer, you could zip round town roads/corners with ease Thumbs Up

I've got a set of Supermaxx Tourings on my Comet and I must say that they are really good tyres. They heat up quickly and have good grip in the wet. I rate them as good as any of the premium tyres which I had on my ZXR.

For £115 a set you can't go wrong Thumbs Up

I had a set of MAXXIS on my ZZR600, If I must be honest I hated them, they were awful in the wet, in fact they actually scared me in the wet!

They took an age to warm up, I found myself losing confidence in the bike, so I changed them for bridgestones, since changing I have not looked back, I will not have these tyres again.

I have a Supermaxx Sport rear, and Supermaxx Touring front for the Bandit. I've ridden on them thru the end of the winter, for the last 6-8 months or so, and would happily replace them with the same.
I'll keep an interested eye on the Diamond, out of curiosity... Thumbs Up

I can't give an opinion on the Maxxis but having just done allot of trawling for the best tyre pricing available I would reccomend RoundAndBlack on eBay. They have a huge selection and I managed to my 2CTs £50 cheeaper then anywhere else I looked.

They are shite.

I have just changed them after 1100 miles, they made the initial turn in very slow and the front felt like it was going to tuck even at a very slight angle.

They took an age to warm up and inspired no confidence whatsoever. The Crappy contiforce tyres I had on were better than the maxxiss.

Just my Penny Coin Penny Coin worth. They may work better on a different bike but no good on a vtwin.

I spoke to my mate (He covers about 30 miles a day) he said he feels they get warm after about 5 miles of riding, but as mr_fisty says, the front feels like its going to go at hardly any lean angle.

If I get another pop on it, i'll try leaning, but I dont want to drop his bike Laughing

If you did a trackday on them, wouldn't the 'diamond' pattern be toast after a few sessions or at least well worn, so it would just turn into a slick on that part?

i'll stick with my supercorsa's Thumbs Up

Hmm, the front feeling it's gonna fold won't be much good for her as she is still learning the bike.

Thanks for the update chaps! Thumbs Up

I expect they would perish on track, but she's not going to be doing that, just a road going type of gal Wink

Might just get her some Battleaxe's instead, I know that they are good for her type of riding.

Still I would like to see what you think after a 2nd go Paddy Wink

Honestly... Steer clear. Neutral

Were not fantastic at all, had the back skip about and the front wasn't loving it at all.

Tried leaning, but it seems like the more lean you give, the more twitchy and unstable it feels, even more so at low speeds. (<30mph)

I had alot more confidence on Conti Road Attacks, about the same price if you shop around. Thumbs Up

Well I did 90 odd miles today on the Supermaxx I had fitted to the Blade this morning.

I gave them 40 or so miles before trying to push them a bit and I must say I'm impressed. Had the bike pretty cranked over in a few corners and they felt planted and responsive, certainly no worse than any major brand tyre I've used until now. Obviously I cant comment on longevity, but initial impressions are positive. For £65 fitted I'm certainly not complaining.

I think busters are still selling off some original pilot roads, I put a pair on the SV and think they are really good for £142 the pair.
I have much more confidence in these than the Dunlop 209's they replaced.

Not tried the diamonds but I wouldn't after experiencing the Supermaxx sports that were on the Gixxer when I got it. They were newish and just about scrubbed in. Worst feel from any sports tyre I've ever had. Front felt really strange and the whole plot felt wooden and unstable, rode em for 2 days and dumped 'em for decent tyres which transformed the bike.

Can't see what the diamonds would be good for, I'd prefer slick like rubber on the tyre edge, can only imagine the diamonds causing movement when right over on the edge, lokks like a gimmick to me.

Ive not had any set of tyres that feel exactly the same and ive been through a fair few sets.

Suspension settings and pressures make a difference to how the bike feels with each set of differently branded tyres you have on in my experience.

Most of the Bridgestones in general seem to have almost solid sidewalls, so feel a bit nicer with slightly lower pressures or a softer suspension setup.

Michelins seem to have much softer sidewalls, so feel better with higher pressures ( normally 36/42 on a road bike) or slightly stiffer suspension setup.

IMO.

Not had an issue with the feel of any of the MAXXIS range, but i havent tried these new Diamonds....

I've just fitted these on the thunderace. I've pushed them quite hard, and am able to lean over to peg scrapping with no wiggle like I was getting on the squared off bt014/bt016's. Very impressed so far. They were £160 fitted.
