does anybody know the standard settings?

Had a look on the web for a pdf owners manual as it's usually in there but only seem to find them for the sp2 which has a slightly different setup if my research is right?

Wouldn't worry too much about the "standard" settings. Set the preload for yourself, and then twiddle with the compression and rebound until it feels good for your type of riding.

on the 600rr the standard setup was pretty close and i just left it there.

I can pretty much get a feel for preload and compression damping and tweek it to roughly what i want, rebound damping is what puzzles me though and rear suspension i usually just set to standard and leave it. Would just be handy to know for a starting point is all.

How is rebound damping puzzling?

It controls how quickly the forks extend, so when you come off the brakes for the forks, and when you apply the brakes for the rear shock.

I guess you've seen this?

never really been into suspension setting's until now, i'd normally just put it to standard and ride it but the sp is a bit harder than normal bikes so requires more attention to make it more useable.

Thanks for the links Thumbs Up

The Showa kit they put on it is really great. Maybe worth a rebuild if you've got the spare money, and anytime. Thumbs Up

The Shows are good, and bont relly need to be changed. (allways helpful to get them rebuilt about £300~ was my last quote) Keep an eye out for an Ohlins rear, jusits the bike a bit better.

The ride is a harsh one anyway. What tires you using?

Keep twisint the knobs at the ront on the front shocks (think thier the rebound ones) if not moved they can seize up. so give them a twiddle everynow and again ( i allways did it when i washed it)

Thumbs Up

got loads to do on it this weekend (new bike service ritual) so may as well refresh the oil in the forks for now and see how it feels. Its the compression knobs that sieze i think, the ones on the silver cartridge at the bottom of the fork legs. Seb mentioned it in my other thread so i've already checked those and there fine.

currently on diablo corsa 3's, my usual tyre is plain daiblo corsa's and have always got on well with them, these feel just the same. The back tyres due soon so mighnt just put a plain daiblo on the back, cant see it causing any issues.

rear preload is set on 2 out of 9 positions with 5 being standard and it still feels solid Laughing

This is an American website (read of that what you will) but I found it quite useful before. I know they also give the Honda models funny names, so not sure if it's even listed here (I don't know my Hondas! I think the SP1 is a VTR or RC51?).
