Hi, ive just bought a gilera dna 180 for popping around and about town on. I took it on a ride out and when at full power the engine cuts out like its not getting fuel or air. The revs drop right off and sounds like backfiring then will pick up some steam again. Only really gets better when back right off which is a bit awkward on hill as you almost stop.

I thought it might be something to do with fueling but it ticks over fine and runs great its just when get near max speed?

Any help would be great as ive only just bought it Sad

Would be worth popping a new plug in it as they are consumables on 2 strokes. Check and clean your air filter and check fuel filter if they are fitted to ensure they arn't blocked. Also check carb connectors for any air leaks.

If that doesn't work then i'd give the carb a clean and you'll have to check your mixture to see if your running lean at full throttle. Warm the engine up then put a new plug in. Drive down the road and when the engine starts it's funny buggers hit the kill switch or turn the key off. Check the colour of the plug. It should be a nice light coffee colour. White is too lean and black is too rich.

Forgot to add its a 180 4stroke. I wondered about fueling but had only covered 1300 miles so thought should be ok ans seems ok through therev range just right at the very top.

I'll wip the plug out and look
