typing with left hand...

in brief

brands evening, last lap pretty much. highsided it coming out of clearways. marshall reckoned about 70ish mph...went from one side to the other then back again before it finally spat me off.

tumbled 6 or 7 times and ended up in the gravel... instant pain in r shoulder

ended up with a broken r collarbone, bruised hip and sore ankle

Fancy a project, I had a 675 and loved it. Worked for a race team running one for a couple of years so know quite a bit about them Smile

Fcuking Clearways, that's where I low-sided. Long overdue for re-surfacing.

I was being perfectly serious. When I came off the state of that corner was a disgrace.

Hope your shoulder get better soon.

I heard rumours that the whole track has been resurfaced now, this true? Rode it last year when it was half done.

the whole track has been resurfaced, clearways is fine if you on the racing line, if your off it, it can be a little bumpy.
Dont blame the track Hetz, learn how to ride a bike, if people can come out of there putting down 200bhp whilst still leant over, then I think the track is up to the job. Your suspension is either piss poor or you can't adjust your riding to suit different track conditions/ corners.

Couldn't agree more.
I've just done 6 supermoto track days over 3 weeks, on 3 different tracks.
Every time, there was always somebody complaining about at least one corner on each track.

FFS, We're all racing the exact same track. It's not the track, it's youu! Laughing

Gutted for you though Jonny! Partly the reason I'd only race my Supermoto bike(s), or if I was to ride a sports bike, it would be an old hack.

We shan't revisit my trackday performances, suffice to say that if I'd started racing bikes at the usual young age I'd be in the same ballpark as Rossi. Either I'm a natural or riding fast is a piece of piss for anyone who's not retarded and/or physically challenged. I suspect the latter. Just another sport about which a load of mythical bollocks has been spouted. Laughing

As for my off, it was due to me trying to keep up with the chaps on slicks (and just about managing it too). The condition of the track had nothing to do with it, but that doesn't mean Clearways wasn't in a shite state at that time. It was bumpy, cracked and polished.

lol okay
If you knew how to ride a bike fast you wouldnt have kept pushing when the bike was telling you that your on the limit.
Basically you drove to quickly round a corner then said oo see im too quick for the bike, I must be a God. No that just means that you cant ride on the limit of a bike without crashing, the thing that sort of defines a quick racer.

Stop talking bollocks. You find the edge by going over it, not by shimmying up to it and going "Ooer, this feels a bit hairy!" I had one afternoon of three or four 20-minute sessions and the next time, a few months later, I had one 20-minute session and came off on the second. I was bumped from intermediate to advanced on the first after doing a 56 second lap. Fifteen stone on an old RRW and keeping up with most of the club-racers with their slicks until I pushed too hard. And more than twice the age of most of them.

I could have been a contender. Mr. Green

When you know what you're talking about re fast bikes I'll have a listen. How long have you been riding them? And which ones?

Maybe if you're a top level racer on a testing session, but for somebody doing a trackday on a road bike, I'd have thought backing off when things get hairy is the right thing to do. Then gradually getting faster until you can reach the hairy moment again every time without overstepping it.
Apart from smashing up your road bike and not doing anymore trackdays what did you learn? that you're not as fast as somebody on slicks and that clearways used to be bumpy!

Not got loads of experience to back up my theory, but I have a non crashed bike.
Tortoise and the Hare and all that Smile

PS sorry about your crash Jonny.

Most of my mates ride in the advanced groups on their track days.
I thought it was just the normal group to be in for those who are relatively quick riders.

From experience, the novice groups is full of people on "Track day tasters".
Pan Euros etc. Laughing

Intermediate is people who want to do a track day, and consider themselves a reasonably quick road rider.

Then Advanced is for track day junkies.

Either way, I didn't think the advanced group was that extreme?

Dunno, I can only speak for the time I was there, and the advanced was full of club-racers on tricked out slicked machinery.

As for 'wrecking' my bike, boo fucking hoo. I nailed it and learned a bunch.

I fell off at the exit of Clearways too. Laughing

Only cos I was trying to lap Mick Doohan for the second time though. Only reason I don't race is it wouldn't be fair on everyone else. Cool

I haven't crashed at clearways. But I have got my knee down in the pouring rain there. Does that make me an even better rider than Hetz and bend?

Maybe I shouldn't take up racing, Rossi would be so scared he would retire and there would be a world full of crying school boys on Vali' rep scooters!
