 Posted: 17:39 - 08 May 2011 Post subject: Mod 2 signalling procedure |
 |
|
Hi
I've got my Mod 2 tomorrow and having had a different instructor take me for my Mod1, seems my first instructor failed to tell me anything.
I'm quite confident on the road but just wanted to check up on the turn procedures.
For a right turn, major to minor is it:
Mirror, signal, lifesaver, move to the offside, lifesaver, then turn?
Or is it:
Mirror, lifesaver, signal etc.
Also turning right on a roundabout (eg third exit) is the procedure:
Mirror, signal right, lifesaver right, into the inner lane, mirror, signal left once past the 2nd exit, left lifesaver, move, cancel indicator, check mirrors.
thanks |

You need to indicate off roundabouts also.. just after the exit before you wish to take. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Hi there,
the correct progression is as follows:
Check the correct mirror.
Signal using the correct indicator.
Do a lifesaver over the correct shoulder.
Position the motorcycle correctly on the road.
Just before the actual turn, do another lifesaver over the correct shoulder.
As for the third exit of a roundabout:
Approach the roundabout in the furthest right (offside) lane.
As you approach, check your right mirror.
Turn on your right indicator.
Look right towards oncoming traffic as you enter the roundabout.
As you go past the exit before yours, check your left mirror.
Turn on your left indicator.
Do a LEFT lifesaver.
Exit the roundabout in the furthest left (nearside) lane.
I do have a picture around here somewhere but it has gone missing, hope that helps! ! ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

Good luck for today, DO NOT FORGET TO CANCEL THEM INDICATORS!!
Lots of people have failed for that, including myself, I didn't have the luxury of a button, but keep pressing it.
Apart from that you can't go wrong
The guy above got it in a nutshell, do that, and you'll pass, remember road positioning IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO, I got told off for this.... ____________________ Previously owned: Kawasaki KH125, Suzuki GP125, Suzuki GX 125, Honda CB125 TDC '83, Honda ntv 600, Kawasaki ER5, Kawasaki ZZR600, Aprilia RSV 1000 Mille

On a two lane roundabout, when you exit (for the third exit) and indicate left, do you still move into the left lane or exit into the right hand lane then move into the left? |

You are changing lanes so i'd recommend it, however, as soon as you get in that lane, turn your indicator off straight away as to not confuse other users. But, if there is a side street near by, i'd advise changing lanes long before it or just after it.. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11
