Birmingham is a big place!
Where abouts are you?
Whats the bike?
What do you want expert opinion on?
DIY'ing your own maintenence is a good way to get to know your bike.
I'n in Nuneaton, which is on the edge of the 50mile radius of StMartins.
If you are in the near district, want an opinion, and a watchful eye over your shoulder to do an oil change on a spare afternoon, and opinion on whatever you are worried about, let me know, you can pop over, borrow a couple of tools, have a coffee and a natter about it.

On the A45 between the air port and the petrol station?!?!
I wouldn't trust them further than I could throw them....
Actually I WOULD... but I wouldn't let YOU (A gullible newbie) trust them!
When I was looking for my Viffer I went over to look at one... advertised as 'mint' and for top book money... when I got there the crash damage was SO badly bodged, the white Honda logo had been applied with tippex!
Pointing out all the 'little' faults..... I asked them whether they has a more 'sensible' price in mind..... A shrug, and a sly smile, and the answer "Some mug will buy it! Want to look at a Zed?"
Does that answer your question?
By all means let them have a look, but if you want an unbiased opinion, and a nice ride out....
Head over here... through Catherine de Barnes, Meriden, Fillongly, straight on all the way till you come to a T junction.... turn right, first left second right and look for the childrens painted hand prints on my front wall, and the silver Chavic on the drive.
Dead easy from where you are.. about ten miles, BRILLIANT ride...used to have to commute the other way every day on the VF, when I worked by the dog track in Hall Green.... as a Rocket Scientist.... does that make me 'qualified' to check over a little motorbike for you? If not, well, thirty years building the damn things for everything from trials to road racing, and everything in between, might give you a tad more confidence!
Teaching G/F, Snowie M/C mechanics for the last year, completely restoring a little Honda Super Dream. She's just put up a 'how to' on opening up the engine to clean the hidden oil strainer in the sump, that scares many DIY mechanics..... made her do it from the book, with as little 'advice as possible', AND replace the clutch while she was in there, AND make her own gasket.....
Its a great way to get to know your bike, and its NOT scary.
You can ask a professional, what they think of a bike, but ultimately, they could tell you anything they like, if YOU have the hands on, and see whats going on, then you have no area of doubt, about stuff.... and most of its a little common sense, a little basic know how.... and a bit of confidence.
Have you got a workshop manual for it?
If not, can you get one. That is your guide to all things 'service'... and I can help walk you through the basics, if you like. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Coppa Slip.... for the bits that ought to move, loctite for the bits they shouldn't.
Probably a dragging pad. Could be a number of things, but starting with the obviouse, damn good de gunge is the place to start.
If you want to bring it over, have a play, feel free.
I'm about most the while, being hassled by Snowie trying to get this little Super Dream sorted... so there's plenty of tools for the job lying around the yard... coppa-slip left on dustbins, aerosols on the caravan... auto-sol run over by the lawn mower... and no locktite becouse she puts it on like ruddy tooth paste... but!
Sure we can sort a chain & a caliper, and bounce some suspension and check steering and stuff! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
