Okay guys, i new to this forum so ill say hello Very Happy

Right, i bought a Gilera Dna 50 a few week ago now and when i got it i realized it had a laser x pro exhaust and had been derestricted.
Well, the bike wasn't picking up speed at first (acceleration wise) so i was told to lift the needle a notch or so. This made it accelerate like no tomorrow, but we think that its just had that laser exhaust 'slapped' on, without any adjustments as once it accelerates on the needle, it fails to pull anymore and just toddles away. :/ Would you suggest me to rejet the main to a 75 or whatever? Oh and just a minor electrical fault if anyone could help, the main beam doesn't work (well it's extremely dim) but the 'pass' does, neither does the parking light Confused hmmm

Any help with anything would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Ash

With regards to the acceleration issue, you need to upjet 10-12% when you fit a sports exhaust. I doubt this has been done. Work out what jet you have at the moment and add 11% and try it out. You can get an entire jet box which includes a large range of jets and if you ever do any other mods it saves you the hassel and expense of getting a single jet.

When a sports exhaust is fitted it is also best to change the rollers and clutch springs. You need slightly lighter rollers and harder (tighter) clutch springs.

Do that and your bike should run right. If you want it too run REALLY well get it on a dyno and get them to set it up, but you should be able to do it at home.

Well guys, i was suggested to change it to a 75, and i did, it runs absolutley perfect now, picks up, pulls great, but as regards to other things, what would i rejet the bike to, if i changed the airbox to a conical air filter, eg k&n or malossi, the rollers to some light polini ones, and the clutch spring to a tighter one one. Also any help with the light issue guys?, its a real pain.

Thanks for all the help im recieving, really do appreciate it Very Happy

With regards to the open filters, don't bother. They tend to only reduce performance on anything buy highly tuned two strokes and take a lot more fuel due to the higher jetting. You don't need to upjet to change rollers or clutch springs and these should have been changed with the exhaust. However, if your bike is running fine as it is then don't bother spending any more money on it. Save your money ready for your test when you turn 17.
