What day(s) are you planning on visiting Yosemite and have you settled on a part of Yosemite in particular? Have you heard anything about Kings Canyon? It's a great ride and the view along the river is damned awe inspiring.

I'm reasonably close by in Fresno, Ca. and and have made a couple runs to just about everywhere around here for day and weekend trips. If you're looking for a home base of sorts to rest up for the next day's adventures, Fresno's kinda smack dab in the middle of everything and the hotels are dirt cheap.

I'd make sure you either have some really heavy duty sunblock or make sure your covered, you might feel nice and cool from the breeze but you will end up crispyer than a burnt thing on a hot day.

I'd never ride without gloves anyway, they still have big bugs over there right? ask odie about rideing without a helmet and bugs.

Both very good points. We've basically got no ozone layer here so you're probably going to want about a gallon of SPF15 or higher and bear in mind that helmets are required in California, though it seems like you've already planned on wearing one regardless. Those snazzy half-shell helmets are all the rage here with the Harley crowd and are perfectly legal, but for touring without a screen I'd say stear clear of anything that lets the bugs find your teeth. Speaking of which, it just depends on the season but on a lengthy ride you will most definitely hit enough bugs to fill a jar with so take that into account as well. Oh, and have a great time while you're at it! Cool
