Of course I have, Ive been through 3 insurance companies with my car over the last few years.
When I am promised a call back, I always get one back and most of them tend to follow the law I had a bit of a misunderstanding with admiral last year wear they started my policy and there were a few incorrect details. They listend to the sales call and admitted that the extra modifications were included so rather than charging me an extra £70, they put them on for no charge - its wasnt easy to get them to do this but after requesting to speak to a manager, it was all sorted |

There seems to be a pattern emerging that they just don't have the staff to cope.
I'm done with calling up insurance companies because of this problem with the phone drone (who's on commission or targets) "mis-hearing" the details in order to close the sale. If I can't get the policy online, and see all of my details onscreen, then it's not worth the gamble. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

The controlling legislation is the Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004.
The cancellation period is 14 calendar days after commencement of the contract or after written details of the terms have been provided. This is an absolute right: you can't be forced or tricked into waiving it.
The amount they can sting you for is unclear though; the regulation is too-clever-by-half.
Some pencil pushing wise guy wrote: | (6) Subject to paragraphs (7), (8) and (9), the supplier may make a charge for any service actually provided by the supplier in accordance with the contract.
(7) The charge shall not exceed an amount which is in proportion to the extent of the service provided to the consumer prior to the time at which the cancellation event occurred (including the service of arranging to provide the financial service) in comparison with the full coverage of the contract, and in any event shall not be such that it could be construed as a penalty. |
The bolded text is the problem. Since that service has already been fully provided, then providers can reasonably interpret it as meaning that they can charge you the full cost of that arrangement, plus a proportion of the insurance that you've actually used.
As with all such disputes, the sooner you start the escalation towards the Financial Services Ombudsman and ultimately County Court - where you'll oblige them to show a breakdown of why it costs them (e.g.) £30 to process a web form - the sooner they're likely to cave and refund you. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

VERY useful, many thanks Roger, ,,after the last two months running around making phone calls, and writing letters to no avail, after my last insurance company wanted to charge me another £100 after another years no claims, plus a 41.04% interest rate on installments for my Landrover, on a renewal I neither asked for, nor accepted after going to another company at under half the cost.
I managed to finally get their attention when I cancelled the d/d, a company called Close Premium Credit, who apparently "do" the installment thing, wrote to me saying I owed them £70, £40 of which was an "administration fee" this is the same company who did the installments for my previous insurance company, so I contacted my new insurers and paid the policy off in a lump sum,,,,,I'm still expecting Close Premium Credit to chance their arm with another threatening letter over this, despite my insurers saying they would be contacted, and all fees dropped,,,ok for me, who had the cash to do that, but what about the poor fuckers that have to take it up the arse at 41.04% apr ?
,,,and these scumbags are "legal" ?????,,,,makes me piss boil ____________________ as ye sow,,,, |

point being Rob, that these tosspots operate on the very fringes of legality, not just Premium, but all of 'em singing from the same hymn sheet to a greater or lesser degree, fair enough if you had some choice in whether you "bought" their "product" or not, caveat emptor an' all that, but it is a legal requirement, one that despite them doing fuck all apart from "cover your risk" even when you've cost them nothing in the last 20 odd years, they still think it's ok to charge you another 40-50% each year, and do fuck-all when you have to occasion to actually "use" their "product", (two non-fault claims in the last 20 years, both of which were dealt with expertly, and no hassle to myself by these guys, talk about a license to print money. ____________________ as ye sow,,,, |

I hanvt read the entire thread but my story goes like :
insured my dna (got stolen they offered me £200 when i pad £500 but i had it insured it for £800)
got it back after cancelling my insurance and getting more than what they offered if i claimed

i didnt inform mce as i thaught i wont get anythink and ill need 1 years no claims nexy year for my 125 so i get my 125....
iring up and say can i transfer that insurence over to my 125 ( as i understood you pay the extra for having insured a more valued bike ect....and the answer was no! i said what do you mean they said they had insured me via a different copany which only dealt with 50cc mopeds so it was 'impossible to change it' i said well ill take out a new policy going through all the details i said i had 1 years no claims....they accepted this 2 days after i get a phone call saying im not insured i dont have 1 years no claims andi lied to them i said no the policy was with you and i do have 1 years no claims he replied' we see you had a policy with us but it doesnt run out for 3 more days! and your noclaims bonus wont be active for 4 more days soo now im fuming!!! never just been ok with this company so he puts my insurance policy to start in the 4 days even after i told him i no longer own this bike , he said i cant proove i dont own that bike isaid so now i have to wait 4 days before i can ride ...instantly said well how much is it without the 1 year ncb thinking he would say £10 more it was £110 pound more he stupidy said would you like to purchace that then sir ...i replied you fucking retarded monkey ill wait 4 days ...since then i havnt had to insure a bike but when i do it will not be with them |

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. They sent my policy out to me with no commuting which i specifically stated i needed. When i came to give them my new address they first said they couldnt do it on my existing 3rd party only insurance and i would have to upgrade to tpft?!?!?! When i asked for that in writing and also details of the fsa and fos they said ill just check with my manager. THEN they said 3 hours later they would keep me on tpo but still chare me £65 FLIPPING QUID to change my address and i went for the ass-end of town to the posh parts!
If you speak to someone called 'louise/loosa' ask to be transferred immediately.
Never ever again will i use mce. Id rather pay more for hastings but ive
Learnt now the hard way. Awful service and complete joke. ____________________
