Hi, I have a 50cc Geely moped 06 plate which i bought last week..

It starts up great off kick start and electric..

After about 10 seconds the moped cuts out on idle..

Also when i brake it cuts out...

I adjusted the throttle screw for higher revs but it still cuts out...

Does anyone know what could cause it to cut out?...

Also does anyone have any pictures of the engine/carb/tubes and wires as i have a few tubes that are not connecting to anything...

Any help would be great..

Thanks...

I swear to god I answer this question every sodding week! Why cant you people use the search bar or look back a few threads...

Anyway, With regards to your idling problem, it could be that your carb is gummed up. Strip the carb down and clean out all the 'varnish' in the bowl with some carb cleaner, a cloth and some elbow grease. Then remove the Main jet, spray some carb cleaner in and then blast it out with compressed air to clear it out.

Re-assemble the carb and see if it sorts the problem. With regards to the braking and cutting out, does it cut out even if you apply the front brake? If so then its probably a wiring fault like a short somewhere. Check all the connections to the break lights.

I was told it could be the throttle cable as it looks like it has stretched quite a bit that could be causing it to cut out...It is really slack...

And it doesn't look like its for that moped...

And yes it cuts out when i press the front brake...Not all the time though...

As I say, probably a short in the loom.

If your not happy with the throttle cable then change it, but it shouldn't cause it too cut out at idle I shouldn't think.

To be honest i don't know much about mopeds and i'm just going on what people told me...

When im riding the moped its fine and runs like a dream, its just when i brake and nearly come to a stop it cuts out...

So somewhere there is a wiring fault?...

Where about would the fault come from?...

The moped is mint and looks hardly used and it only has 2500 on the clock...

Oh so it does run and ride then? In which case disregard what I said about cleaning the carb above. Can you take a photo of what screw your using to adjust the idling for us? You may be adjusting the throttle cable rather then the idling hence why its not making much difference!

If the video is online you can link it here so we can have a look.

Yes it does ride lol...

What i have tried is adjusting the throttle idling pic (the one with the spring) to adjust the revs...

There is also another screw on the side of the carb which im guessing is the air mixture?

My moped is a 4 stroke if thats any help...

The video is on my phone..Is there any way i could send it to you?...

Also i don't have pictures of the carb and can't do it now as it is too dark and will take pictures tomorrow...
