Hi all

I was looking at buying my first bike, a telefonica gixer 600, 02 8k on the clock with good service history, do you think £3400 is too much? if so what would be a good price? the bike is in really good condition.

Also looking at a gixer 600, 54 plate, 4k on the clock with 6 stamps in the book.

Both bikes are from dealers with full ticket and 3 months warranty.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

For the 02 gixxer, I'd say £3.5k is a bit of a wedge to give out. You'd be able to get a newer and more desirable bike for that!

Just quickly browsed ebay and there's quite a few 04-05 plate bikes (not only gixxers) for £3.5k and under. Explore more options than just your local dealer..

I cant go for an 05 it doubles the insurance, the r6 and zx6r are £300 more on insurance so that cancels out the price difference.

I was going to go for a cbr 600f but they are 3k or more for a good one and id prefer to pay that bit more for a gixer.

All them gixers on ebay say full service history but when you contact them the so called full service is by millage as in 3/4/5 year in between service's.

Cheers.

Hey,

Love the bike but that is a horrendous amount of money to give for that bike.

Considering there was a 2007 GSXR600 here for sale at £4200, you gave a lot of wedge for not a lot of bike, when you come to sell it you won't get anywhere near that much back.

Cheers!

Dealer prices though by the look of it though, totally down to the individual and some people have more to care about than depreciation etc. At the end of the day if you are happy to pay it then it doesnt matter.

Although for the record I wouldnt even pay 4200 for the 2007 you mention, but thats just me Laughing

I know but i would have to pay twice the amount to insure it (£1300) 05 onwards are double on insurance as ive only had my licence two weeks, it was hard enough to get this one insured.

People keep saying its over priced but ive been searching for 10 weeks and never seen one in as good condition as this one, and all the yellow ones are up for 4k (seem to fetch more money) with more miles on em and only part history, this one has 1 owner been serviced and mot every year at the dealers he bought it from and it rode so much better than the 02 telefonica bike.

Maybe next year ill be able to get a new gixer Very Happy

That price is not over priced for a bike with 8K miles only.

Full service history is good.

Forget the year, look at the mileage and condition of the bike.

A 2007 isn't always going to be in better nick than a 2002.

To put that into perspective I paid £5000 for a ZX6R 636, 2006 model, with 220 miles on the clock. That was in 2006 though, not 2011.

As long as you are hapy bud then nothing else matters, theres a lot of people who worry about how much things cost or things like 'depreciation' that happen whilst you are riding it or you are sat in the pub.

Enjoy it mate, looks lovely *apart from the can obviously!! Wink
