Anyone done a similar run? Got a friend that stays down there so was thinking about just jumping on the R6 at some point over the summer and heading down there. Wondering whats the best roads to take, etc. Id imagine its a lot of boring motorway runs though?

All the roads are guaranteed to be worse than whatever you have up there. I wouldn't bother Laughing

you'll knock about 1000 miles each way by taking the ferry... well worth thinking about. Its not cheap.. but when you do the sums.. compare and contrast. then its not as expensive as it seems.

Sooner or later opinions fade and the name on the tank matters not. I think that happens somewhere between 3rd and 4th gear. Enjoy the ride... everything else takes care of itself.

Such an easy start. And so many question? Are you riding all the way or ferry from the UK to Spain? Camping or B&B's. On your own are with a mate. Standard road's or toll. How long you got, how much money you intend to spend?

I've done that trip a few time's. Never had a bad one yet.

Tbh ive not put a huge amount of thought into it, initial ideas were just to fire 2 new tryes on the bike, pack a bag and ride... see where I end up. Was thinking maybe hull to zeebrugge ferry then ride down through france and spain. Hadnt really thought about ferry to Santander until I looked at this thread, probably a better idea?

Believe you me, a lot say they have no idea where they are going. But in fact they have a destination in mind. You have Spain. Do the Dover Calais crossing. Mid week is nearly half price ( Wednesday). P&O or Sea France. Camp in Dover over night get an early crossing. Then try and make you way to Poitiers, and then the next day Pau. There are camp site's and cheap B&B in both place's. After that it's either a play in the mountain's or cross in to Spain and ride down the coast road's.

Me I would find a place and stick with it for a few day's. Saves packing up and setting up every night.
