A follow up to the post by ianc1990 https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=221064

I had a phonecall from them earlier on today about an "accident" that I was supposed to have had in "the last two and a half years".

Although I'm on the telephone preference service they got around calling me by saying I'd had a quote from them in the past, which is unfortunately true.

After me quite clearly stating that this was utter bull, they swiftly moved on to if anyone I knew had had one. So after stating that I believe the compensation culture is more disgusting than Satan's Balti + Guinness turds they swiftly removed me from their database.

It's a bit shit that this is what our insurance premiums are being spent on, plus it can tempt people into making fraudulent compensation claims.

DAMN NO WIN NO FEE!

The massive money made from such claims is what pays for it.
A lot more money in this sort of thing ('legal insurance') than there is in selling cheap premiums.

Oh and 'Laughing' at 'removed from database. Maybe their's; but probably on ten others now Wink.

It's a vicious cycle of referral fees, payouts and premium increases, it was on watchdog ye'know Wink

But aye I know... I work in the marketing industry on the IT side. I know how quickly data can be bought and sold. It's actually quite scary!

They can ring me all they like, I actually quite like giving my two cents to the poor bugger at the other end of the phone. Not wanting to make their life difficult, but hoping they'll see some sense/agree!

I have a 0871 number, every time a site insists on a contact number, insurance etc i put it in.

I'm sure it reduces the calls and you can happily chat away knowing it's costing them more and giving you 2.5p per minute

Have a nosy here, costs nothing at all, ever. I have a few numbers including freephone ones. Good service if you ever need it.

Or if feeling very charitable, click this one so i might earn a few pennies

I find saying "fuck off you ambulance chasing cunt" leads to a fairly swift cessation of calls. Smile

I caused an accident a couple of years ago (a shunt, no injuries but we were both checked out for whiplash as a precaustion) and I look forward to the day when I don't have to declare this on my insurance renewals. I was getting up to ten calls a day from DIFFERENT no win no fee companies and every time I renew any of my car/bike policies it starts up again.

And I don't give my phone number out, I tick the box that says I don't wish to be contacted. Its when I take out the policy and they sell my details on to everyone that it starts Evil or Very Mad

My calls are tailing off now after a non fault accident.

Telling them the to$$er that crashed into my truck was pi$$ed, no mot or insurance gets them on their toes quite quickly

I have not been invovlved in an accident, yet I got a call asking if me or someone I knew had been involved in an accident. I told them to fuck off. Which they did do.
